Annual Report : Clients | Firm | People
While we are making the gradual shift to real-time development, we recognise that spending time in a training environment is still important.
Each person at PwC receives an average of 55 hours of training a year (FY21). This exceeds the Malaysian Institute of Accountants’ (MIA) mandatory Continuing Professional Education (CPE) average training hours of approximately 40 hours a year.
Training for our auditors (Assistant Managers and below) is an average of 85 hours annually. This is within the average 40-90 hours of training a year reported in Audit Oversight Board’s 2019 report.

While the Movement Control Order (MCO) first came into place in 2020, training sessions have been conducted virtually until 31 December 2020. The PwC Academy team designed and ran “Facilitating Virtual Classrooms (FVC)” sessions to equip both experienced and new instructors with skills to conduct virtual classrooms effectively. It covers behaviours, tips and how-to’s in using different functions within WebEx, GMeet, Slido to engage our learners virtually.
The Ultimate Solution Toolkit was designed by the PwC Academy team to help facilitate the virtualisation of trainings, by providing the support needed to redesign, prepare for and facilitate virtual trainings. A key element of the toolkit was also the Digitisation template, which was the basis of all the redesign work for each training.
This solution toolkit has since been shared with many PwC territories. Using of the Digitisation template, a redesign was undertaken for one of the main Assurance courses, a mandatory training for all new joiners, providing them with PwC audit methodology fundamentals. This caught the attention of our Global Assurance team and as a result, PwC Malaysia is leading the redesign for part of a global programme.
