Hui Cheng is a Partner with the Financial Services Tax Practice in PwC Singapore, and has more than 16 years of experience in handling tax matters related to the financial services sector. She specialises in providing tax advisory services with respect to investment management, banking and capital markets transactions, and transfer pricing for financial services/transactions. Her experience includes advising clients on the following:
Other than advising clients on the tax implications of financial transactions and operations, she has assisted clients in applying for advance rulings and tax incentives, and in carrying out assessment of their compliance with requirements for tax incentives and income/expenses classification for tax reporting purposes.
Hui Cheng previously worked with the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS), during which she was involved in the development of tax incentive schemes and policies for the Singapore financial sector. She was also involved in resolving industry-wide tax issues faced by the financial services sector in Singapore with the Singapore Ministry of Finance (MOF) and the Inland Revenue Authority of Singapore. She also had an attachment with the MOF, during which she worked on financial sector tax policies and other general corporate tax policies.
Hui Cheng obtained a Master of International Taxation from the University of Sydney in 2006. She is also a member of the CFA Institute, and an Accredited Tax Adviser (Income Tax) with the Singapore Institute of Accredited Tax Professionals.
