Faisal Al-Sarraj, Deputy Country Leader, at PwC Middle East in Saudi Arabia to Bloomberg AlSharq: Saudi banks faced a number of liquidity squeezes in 2022, and there were challenges obtaining short-term funding from interbank markets. This is largely because of the unprecedented increase in interest rates, which mirrors the US federal reserve funds rate as KSA operates a pegged exchange rate.
