James is a partner in our Vancouver practice and leads PwC’s Indirect Tax Practice for Vancouver.
Specializing in Canadian indirect taxes for over 25 years, James has expertise in the Goods and Services Tax/Harmonized Sales Tax, Quebec Sales Tax, and retail sales tax relating to cross-border transactions, technology companies, life sciences companies and public sector bodies.
James has written articles and co-developed various seminars addressing sales tax issues faced by public sector bodies and has presented, led workshops, and sat on the organizing committee for the CPA Canada Commodity Tax Symposium. He has also been a regular part of the faculty team for the CPA Canada In-depth GST/HST Course, and co-developed and routinely co-presents CPA Canada’s Advanced GST/HST Course for Public Sector Bodies.
Before joining PwC, James worked with the Department of Finance during the pre-implementation of the GST and Revenue Canada following implementation.
Outside of the office, James enjoys spending time with his family and on his bikes. An avid cyclist, he has participated in a number of Ride to Conquer Cancer events, raising in excess of $15,000.
