Investor Daily - Kuartal I, pergerakan penumpang bandara AP II naik 53,58%

6 April 2023

Jakarta - In the first quarter of 2023, passenger movement in 20 PT Angkasa Pura/AP II (Persero) airports cumulatively reached 18.2 million people, which increased by 53.58% compared to the realisation in the first quarter of 2022. Passenger movement from January to March 2023 is also higher by around 12% from the initial prediction.

“In the first quarter of 2023, aircraft movement in 20 AP II airports also cumulatively increased by around 30% to 140,800 flights,” AP II Corporate Communications VP Cin Asmoro said in his official statement in Jakarta on Wednesday (5/4/2023).

According to Cin, the increase in flight traffic at AP II airports shows that the national aviation is recovering excellently amid the Covid-19 pandemic. He explained that the excellent handling of the pandemic significantly supported the air transportation sector recovery.

“Flight traffic at AP II airports is growing significantly. We are thankful for AP II and stakeholders collaborating to meet the demands, so we can support the travel needs of the people excellently,” he said.

Furthermore, he said that the increase in the number of passengers in the first quarter of 2023 was also sustained by the increase in the number of flights. Aircraft movement increasing is in line with AP II’s effort to ensure the availability of slot times at the airports to support airlines in operating their flights.

Cin also said that the flight traffic data realisation from January to March 2023 made AP II optimistic about reaching the passenger total target that reaches 73 million passengers this year, which increased by 18% compared to last year. The number of passengers that reaches 73 million people reflects a recovery rate of 81% from 2019 before the Covid-19 pandemic.

“Seeing the data from the first three months, we are optimistic about passenger movement from January to December 2023 at 20 AP II airports cumulatively reaching 73 million people. AP II will obviously continue to tightly collaborate with airlines and stakeholders to reach the target,” Cin said.

Meanwhile, the AP II airport that serves the most passengers is Soekarno-Hatta Airport. Flight traffic growth at the largest and busiest airport in Indonesia is quite significant, so AP II is implementing the capacity rebalancing program at the passenger terminals.

“We have been implementing the terminal capacity rebalancing program by transferring airlines from one terminal to another. Terminal capacity rebalancing makes sure that Terminal 1, Terminal 2, and Terminal 3 can provide optimum services to passengers and ensure smooth flights,” Cin said.

AP II is currently managing 20 airports, namely Soekarno-Hatta (Jakarta), Halim Perdanakusuma (Jakarta), Kualanamu (Medan), Supadio (Pontianak), Minangkabau (Padang), Sultan Mahmud Badarudin II (Palembang), Sultan Syarif Kasim II (Pekanbaru), and Husein Sastranegara (Bandung).
