3 April 2023

Jakarta - The Japanese delegation is committed to supporting the development of Nusantara Capital City (IKN) so that it can be completed faster. When they visited the construction location of IKN on Saturday (1/4/2023), the Japanese delegation saw the raw water provision infrastructure construction, IKN’s zero-point location, as well as the construction of the State Palace, construction worker flats, and the west side of Jalan Sumbu Kebangsaan spanning 2.99 km.

“We are ready to support IKN’s development so that it can be completed faster. Great Job,” Advisor, the Building Centre of Japan Senior Advisor of Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC) Hiroto Izumi said as the chair of the Japanese delegation in his official statement after visiting IKN last weekend.

Accompanied by Human Settlement Director General of the Public Works and Housing (PUPR) Ministry Diana Kusumastuti, Hiroto with his entourage started the visit by seeing the raw water provision infrastructure construction in IKN, Sepaku Semoi Dam. During the occasion, Diana Kusumastuti said that the raw water needs of the Central Government Core Area (KIPP) in IKN was around 900 litres per second.

“In the early stage, a water treatment plant (WTP) will be constructed that uses water from Sepaku Semoi Dam with a capacity of 350 litres per second, as well as Sepaku River Intake WTP with a capacity of 300 litres per second,” Diana said.

According to Diana, the WTP will be fitted with a piping network that spans 20 km to the KIPP in IKN as well as reservoirs.

“The construction of this raw water provision system will be supported by a superior technology than the current drinking water technology in Indonesia,” she stated.

Kalimantan River Basin Centre (BWS) IV Head Harya Muldianto said that Sepaku Semoi Dam was constructed with a capacity of 10 million m3 and a reservoir of 280 ha that could provide raw water by 2,500 litres per second.

“The progress of Sepaku Semoi Dam has reached 88%, and we will complete it in June 2023. Besides the dam, the PUPR Ministry is also completing Sepaku River Intake to provide raw water by 3,000 litres per second,” Harya said.

Besides raw water provision, Harya said that Sepaku Semoi Dam would also control flood and be a tourism area.

“Later, to fulfil raw water needs in the long term in IKN, one more dam will be constructed, which is Batu Lepek Dam with a capacity of 4,300 litres per second,” Harya said.

Next, the Japanese delegation saw the zero-point location in IKN as well as the construction of the State Palace, construction worker flats, as well as the west side of Jalan Sumbu Kebangsaan that spans 2.99 km.

Previously, the PUPR Ministry allocated US$4.5 billion or Rp62 trillion for 63 IKN development projects in the early stage from 2022 to 2024. Until the second week of February 2023, several projects worth US$1.58 billion have been contracted.

The first stage of IKN development that will be carried out from 2022 to 2024 focuses on the construction of Development Area (WP) I or the KIPP that has a size of 6,671 hectares (ha). Out of that size, 49% or 3,271 ha will be maintained as a forest area.

The KIPP is divided into three zones, namely Zone 1A (Central Government), Zone 1B (Government-Education-Housing), and Zone 1C (Government-Health-Housing).
