Bisnis, North Penajam Paser – Infrastructure development in Nusantara Capital City (IKN), located in East Kalimantan, is steadily advancing as the 79th Independence Day of Indonesia approaches.
IKN Infrastructure Development Implementation Task Force Head Danis H. Sumadilaga stated that the progress of IKN's development is proceeding according to the planned stages.
“We are currently in the first of five planned stages, and everything is proceeding according to schedule. No projects will be accelerated for the August 17th ceremony,” he said at a press conference in IKN on Wednesday (7/8).
The progress of the Presidential Palace has reached 92.3%. Additionally, several supporting infrastructure, such as the State Secretariat Ministry Building in IKN, will be operational by 17 August 2024.
“Supporting functions at the Presidential Palace and the State Secretariat Ministry Building will be operational by 17 August 2024. Additionally, several floors within the State Secretariat Ministry Building will also be available for use,” he explained.
He noted that the State Secretariat Ministry Building has reached 86.6% completion. Additionally, several supporting facilities and infrastructure, including multiple floors of the Coordinating Ministry buildings, will be operational by 17 August 2024, to support the 79th Independence Day ceremony in IKN.
Currently, the progress of the Coordinating Ministry buildings is as follows: Building 1 is at 85.1%, Building 2 at 49.2%, Building 3 at 88.4%, and Building 4 at 91.8% completion.
Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal, and Security Affairs Hadi Tjahjanto confirms that the ceremony field in IKN will be ready for the celebration of Indonesia's 79th Independence Day.
Besides the ceremony field, road infrastructure to IKN from Balikpapan will also be available for use by guests who will attend the ceremony. “The ceremony field in IKN is ready for the 79th Independence Day celebration, and access to IKN is also prepared for use,” he said.
Furthermore, Hadi said that road access from Balikpapan to Balang Island Bridge would also be opened to IKN.
He noted that the travel time from Balikpapan to IKN has been reduced from two hours to 90 minutes. "We currently use the route from Balikpapan to IKN via Samarinda. Soon, another route will open from Balikpapan to IKN via the Balang Island Bridge, which will take about one and a half hours," he emphasised.
