13 December 2023

Jakarta, ID – PT ASDP Indonesia Ferry (Persero) has started operating Gilimanuk Dock IV to increase dock capacity ahead of the 2023 Christmas and 2024 New Year transportation season.

ASDP Corporate Secretary Shelvy Arifin said, ASDP as a ferry port operator has made preparations for the 2023 Christmas and 2024 New Year transportation services. “In particular the readiness of the ferry service infrastructure in Ketapang-Gilimanuk, which is expected to be busy approaching the year-end holidays when people will travel across to Bali,” said Shelvy Arifin in Jakarta on Monday (11/12/2023).

In terms of infrastructure, ASDP has completed the capacity increase of the pontoon dock at Gilimanuk Port in Bali, which originally had a capacity of 10 tonnes, to become a movable bridge (MB) dock with a capacity of 60 tonnes so that large ships can dock, enabling the dock to serve ships with a capacity of up to 4,000 GRT.

Previously, docking trial at Dock IV was carried out on Sunday (10/12/2023) using KMP Jatra II which has a loading capacity of approximately 400 mixed vehicles.

Meanwhile, in terms of port facilities, ASDP is preparing to operate large vessels on the Ketapang-Gilimanuk route to break up congestion.

The increase in dock capacity from the original pontoon dock to a moveable bridge dock began at the groundbreaking event for the Gilimanuk Pontoon Dock improvement project on Friday (23/6/2023).

“This work, which is carried out in stages, is an effort to improve Gilimanuk Port service infrastructure in collaboration with the Jembrana government,” said Shelvy.

Gilimanuk Port Pontoon Dock, which initially could only serve ships up to 1,000 GRT, has been transformed into MB dock with a capacity of 4,000 GRT.

The dock length has been increased from 24 meters to 75 meters and the trestle from 25 meters to 85 meters with facilities that include 3 mooring dolphins and 5 breasting dolphins. (ant)
