12 December 2024
Jakarta, ID – Damri successfully launched 90 high-deck electric buses that will operate on the corridors of PT Transportasi Jakarta (TransJakarta) on Tuesday (12/10), at Monas in Central Jakarta.
Damri President Director Setia N. Milatia Moemin stated that the company is proud to be the only operator at PT Transportasi Jakarta committed to operating 90 electric buses in 2024.
"The launch of the new electric buses adds to the 26 units introduced on 22 December 2023. Now, in 2024, Damri can operate 116 electric buses on PT Transportasi Jakarta corridors," Milatia said in his press statement in Jakarta on Wednesday (11/12/2024).
This initiative is also supported by adequate and tested infrastructure. Damri has 35 charging stations, with nine units located at the Klender Damri Depot and 26 units at the Pupar Cakung Damri Depot.
"This facility can fully charge a bus with a battery capacity of 350 kWh in two hours. The bus can then travel for 250 km," Milatia explained.
He stated that Damri is making a serious investment by engaging with stakeholders to achieve sustainable transportation in Indonesia, particularly in Jakarta, which is a centre for change and innovation in technology-based sustainable transportation.
"Today is a historic moment for Damri as a pioneer of public transportation in Indonesia. Damri is committed to creating eco-friendly, modern, and sustainable transportation for the future," Milatia revealed.
As the sole state-owned enterprise (SOE) in road transportation, Damri has demonstrated its commitment to continuous innovation and support for the Government’s programme to accelerate the use of electric vehicles. The provision of the 90 electric buses is not just the introduction of new technology, it is also a significant step towards achieving Indonesia's crucial mission of reaching net zero emissions by 2060.
SOE Deputy Minister Kartika Wirjoatmodjo expressed pride and happiness regarding Damri’s significant contribution. "I highly appreciate Damri for its hard work and commitment in achieving this innovation. This collaboration, which involves various parties—from the Government to electric vehicle producers and other strategic partners—is proof that we can realise the nation’s vision together," Tiko concluded.
