Jasa Marga President Director Subakti Syukur disclosed that Yogyakarta-Bawen toll road was divided into six sections, namely section 1 covering the Yogyakarta-Banyurejo Interchange segment, section 2 the Banyurejo Interchange-Borobudur Interchange segment, section 3 the Borobudur Interchange-Magelang segment, section 4 the Magelang Interchange-Temanggung Interchange segment, section 5 the Temanggung Interchange-Ambarawa Interchange segment, and section 6 the Ambarawa Interchange-JC Bawen segment. Progress is being made in both land acquisition and construction across these six sections.

“Besides that, Yogyakarta-Bawen toll road as well as Solo-Yogyakarta-NYIA Kulon Progo toll road are part of the Joglosemar (Yogyakarta-Solo-Semarang) road network. The road network's connection is expected to link various tourism destinations spanning Yogyakarta-Solo-Semarang and enhance the distribution of goods and services within Java,” Subakti said during the visit of Commission VI of the House of Representatives (DPR) in Yogyakarta some time ago as quoted from his press statement on Monday (26/2/2024).

Subakti hopes the toll roads in the Joglosemar area that are national strategic projects (PSNs) can improve the connectivity of Trans-Java toll road, which will facilitate the distribution of goods and services as well as economic growth. He continued that Jasa Marga was continuously committed to progressing Yogyakarta-Bawen toll road and Solo-Yogyakarta-NYIA Kulon Progo toll road in accordance with set targets. The focus remains on ensuring high quality, business feasibility, and prioritising good corporate governance (GCG) principles.

During the occasion, DPR Commission VI Chairperson Aria Bima said that the PSNs constructed by the government with the toll road business enterprises (BUJTs) have shown significant progress. Moreover, toll road development has become more than a strategic step to facilitate transportation and distribution.

“The construction of transportation infrastructure, such as the toll roads, has a domino effect on regional economy that will facilitate the distribution of goods and services. The projects are expected to stimulate economic activities, boost investments, and create job opportunities,” he revealed.

Members of DPR Commission VI who attended the visit hopes that the toll roads in the Joglosemar area can be a catalyst for national economic growth, especially for Yogyakarta and its surroundings.

Assistant Deputy for Infrastructure of the State-owned Enterprises Ministry Anindita Eka Wibisono, during the occasion, reminded the state-owned enterprises in the infrastructure sector to mitigate the risks of constructing Yogyakarta-Bawen toll road and Yogyakarta-Solo toll road. He also reminded them to provide development reports to the Public Works and Housing (PUPR) Ministry so that they can evaluate and observe the construction of the toll roads.

“In the future, we hope that the financial condition of state-owned enterprises will be continuously maintained. Hence, it is crucial for the infrastructure cluster that are tasked with constructing toll roads to provide regular updates, so [the progress] can be monitored, evaluated, and supervised,” he added.

At the end of the meeting, members of DPR Commission VI hopes that state-owned enterprises in the infrastructure cluster, including Jasa Marga that is constructing Yogyakarta-Bawen toll road and Solo-Yogyakarta-NYIA Kulon progo, can resolve existing issues. This is anticipated to ensure that construction timelines will be in line with proposed plans, adhere to quality and service standards, and ultimately enhance the connectivity of the toll road network, thereby bolstering the local economy along the Joglosemar road network.
