Jakarta, ID – The Public Works and Housing Ministry (PUPR) stated that, as of now, the physical construction progress for phase 1 of the basic infrastructure in Nusantara Capital City (IKN), covering 40 packages, has reached 74.87%.
PUPR Minister Basuki Hadimuljono said that the physical construction progress of IKN has reached 74.87%. The progress is in line with the plan and the target of the government.
“I believe that, in terms of the schedule, the work is proceeding according to plan,” Basuki said when he accompanied Haerul Saleh, Member IV of the Supreme Audit Board (BPK), during an observation of the progress of the basic infrastructure development in IKN in East Kalimantan. This observation specifically focused on the Central Government Core Area (KIPP) and took place on Wednesday (21/2/2024).
Minister Basuki said that the PUPR Ministry commenced the development of basic infrastructure in IKN in September 2022. The development encompasses improvements to connectivity and the provision of raw water, sanitation facilities, and government offices in the KIPP.
The construction of basic infrastructure and government buildings in the KIPP is the main capital that will build public trust and attract investors to invest in IKN.
“Some time ago, three series of groundbreaking [ceremonies] were conducted by President Joko Widodo. The projects include office buildings, hospitals, and hotels. Today, alongside director generals, we are welcoming the audit process conducted by the BPK to ensure that all activities in IKN are executed with good governance,” he stated.
IKN Infrastructure Development Implementation Task Force Chairperson Danis Sumadilaga explained that IKN development was divided into two batches, concluding at the end of 2024. The first batch of construction has commenced with 40 packages, achieving a physical progress of 74.87% as of 15 February 2024. Simultaneously, the second batch has begun with 49 packages, currently at a progress of 24%. In total, 89 packages have been initiated, with a combined budget allocation of Rp68.57 trillion.
“In preparation for the ceremony on 17 August in IKN, nearly all essential infrastructure [for it] is covered in the first batch. Notably, the Presidential Office Building, the State Palace, and the Ceremony Field that have made significant strides with a progress of 56.37%. Meanwhile, the Presidential Office has achieved an impressive progress rate of 74.94%,” Danis said.
Next, concerning the toll road’s construction, which serves as the primary access to IKN, progress has been made in three sections. These sections are section 3A of the Karangjoang-KKT Kariangau segment spanning 13.4 kilometres with a progress rate of 70.9%, section 3B of the KKT Kariangau-Tempadung Interchange segment spanning 7.3 km with a progress of 70%, and section 5A of the Tempadung Interchange-Balang Island Bridge segment spanning 6.7 km with a progress of 77.8%.
“Besides the first batch, the second batch is also currently ongoing. We are currently preparing the construction of 47 housing towers for civil servants, TNI (Indonesian National Armed Forces), and Polri (Indonesian National Police). To prepare for the ceremony on 17 August 2024, inshallah, 12 fully furnished housing towers will be completed and ready for use by July 2024,” Danis added.
Prepare a transportation authority team
The IKN Authority is currently assembling a team of expert advisors who will offer insights into the transportation policies in IKN. These experts from the transportation sector will be coordinated by the Facilities and Infrastructure Deputy of the IKN Authority.
Facilities and Infrastructure Deputy of the IKN Authority Silvia Halim mentioned that their goal was to have 80% of travels to utilise active transportation. “Our aim is not only efficient transportation within IKN but also equal mobility for all segments of the public,” she said.
The team of expert advisors will be led by William Sabandar with Resdiansyah as the secretary. The members will consist of several experts, including Tory Damantoro, Ilham Malik, Famida Fahmiasari, Batari Saraswati, Erikha Bukhari, Tjokorda Nirarta Samdhi, and Ki Darmaningtyas.
William Sabandar mentioned that the team would utilise Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to reach their objectives. These objectives encompass ensuring easy access, efficient transit connections, and clean emissions by 2045.
“The foundation for the change will be built upon a three-policy framework, encompassing integration, smart solutions, and environmental sustainability,” he stated.
IKN Authority Head Bambang Susantono is targeting Indonesia’s 79th Independence Day ceremony in IKN to accommodate the use of eco-friendly transportation. “There will only be eco-friendly vehicles, such as electric buses, that will operate on the 79th Independence Day in IKN. This step is in line with our vision to achieve net zero emission and create a sustainable mobility environment,” he added.
