9 January 2023

Jakarta – The state-owned construction issuer that has a champion in the railways sector, PT Adhi Karya (Persero) Tbk (ADHI), is planning to add 10 to 15 train sets for Jabodebek Light Rail Transit (LRT) project in 2023.

“In February, trials will be conducted for around 10 to 15 trains. The target is to commence commercial operation in July 2023,” Adhi Karya Corporate Secretary Farid Budiyanto said to Investor Daily recently.

Farid explained that the commercial operation target was in line with the agreement and commitment of stakeholders for the construction of Jabodebek LRT project.

Hence, his company will ensure that the trials will integrate the system between facilities and infrastructure.

He continued that the trials were expected to be conducted on schedule, similar to the trials of two trains that were conducted by President Joko Widodo some time ago. After the 10 to 15 trains are trialled, the company will continue to increase the number of trains that will be trialled.

“After [the trial] is complete, more trains will be added. We will hold trials for around 25 to 27 train sets to be ready in July 2023,” Farid revealed.

Until November 2022, the company had secured new contracts worth Rp22.4 trillion. Several jumbo projects that are worked on by the company include Yogyakarta-Bawen toll road worth Rp4.5 trillion, MRT Phase II-CP 202 worth Rp2.3 trillion, IKN Toll Road 3A worth Rp1.1 trillion, Jenelata Dam in Gowa worth Rp849 billion, and Semarang-Demak toll road worth Rp761 billion.

In the future, Farid said that the company would focus on strengthening their market share in government projects. On one hand, there is payment certainty. On the other hand, the completion programs are also clear.

Furthermore, Adhi will also focus on pursuing the infrastructure maintenance preservation program that has been operating as it is reckoned to be an interesting market, especially road preservation.

“Additional new contracts for toll roads are expected. Hopefully, we can still maximise them in line with our funding and production capabilities,” Farid concluded.

Previously, Adhi Karya was committed to boosting the completion of Solo-Yogyakarta-YIA Kulon Progo toll road project. This commitment was made after PT Jogja Solo Marga Makmur (JMM) as the toll road operator had received a syndicated loan worth Rp9.89 trillion.

Adhi Karya President Director Entus Asnawi explained that this syndicated loan facility was supported by syndicated creditors, namely Bank Mandiri, BNI, BRI, BCA as the Joint Mandated Lead Arranger and Bookrunner (JMLAB), the infrastructure financing company PT Sarana Multi Infrastruktur (Persero) – SMI, and 9 other banks.
