Investor Daily - Dukung pariwisata, infrastruktur transportasi Bali diperkuat

 19 January 2023

Jakarta - The government is consistently improving the quality of transportation infrastructure in Bali to anticipate the increase in domestic and international tourist visits after the Covid-19 pandemic. This is in line with the instruction of President Joko Widodo to develop tourism destinations.

“Transportation development is continuously carried out in the land, sea, and air sectors. In the sea sector, the Transportation Ministry has constructed three ports that connect the golden triangle area, namely Sanur Port in Sanur, Sampalan Ferry Port in Nusa Penida, and Bias Munjul Ferry Port in Nusa Ceningan,” Transportation Minister Budi Karya Sumadi said in his official statement in Jakarta on Wednesday (18/1/2023).

Meanwhile, in the air sector, Ngurah Rai Airport can still be significantly developed. Moreover, in 2022, Ngurah Rai Airport was the busiest airport managed by PT Angkasa Pura/AP I (Persero). Domestic and international aircraft passenger growth in Ngurah Rai Airport in 2022 reached 12.5 million passengers, which significantly increased by 231% from 3.7 million passengers in 2021.

“Seeing the passenger and aircraft movements that are continuously increasing, the capacity of Ngurah Rai Airport will be developed to 35 million passengers/year, which is triple the current capacity. As Emirates is planning to operate Wide Body Airbus A380 in the middle of 2023, the capacity must be increased by extending the runway and developing the terminal and apron so that the services provided will be better,” the Transportation Minister said.

Transportation Ministry Spokesperson Adita Irawati said that the Transportation Ministry was continuously committed to improving connectivity in Bali by connecting the surrounding areas, such as Lombok and Banyuwangi. This is carried out to support the tourism sector, which is the main sector that boosts economic growth in Bali and its vicinity.
