Jakarta, ID – PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) or PT KAI, as of today, will operate three new inter-city train services, namely Pangandaran Train (Gambir-Banjar), Papandayan Train (Gambir-Garut), and Malabar Train (Bandung-Malang).
PT KAI Public Relations Vice President Joni Martinus said that the company would operate three of its newest train services, namely Pangandaran Train, Papandayan Train, and Malabar Train on Wednesday (24/1).
According to him, the high enthusiasm of the people is the reason why PT KAI is activating these trains on existing routes.
“This will increase the operational capacity of KAI, especially on existing routes,” Joni said when contacted by Investor Daily in Jakarta on Tuesday (23/1/2024).
He explained that Papandayan Train would serve the Gambir (8:30 AM WIB)-Bandung (9:20 AM WIB)-Garut (11:20 AM WIB) route. “For the return trip, [the train] will leave Garut at 12:30 PM WIB to arrive in Bandung at 3:00 PM WIB. Then, it will continue its trip to Gambir, arriving at 5:45 PM WIB,” Joni said.
Meanwhile, the route of Pangandaran Train starts from Gambir (8:30 AM WIB), to Bandung (12:20 PM WIB), then finally to Banjar (18:25 PM WIB). For the return trip, the train will depart from Banjar Station at 4:45 PM WIB, arriving at Bandung Station at 10 PM WIB. Then, it will arrive at Gambir Station at 12:40 AM WIB. Meanwhile, Malabar Train departs from Bandung at 9:50 AM WIB to arrive in Malang at 5:40 AM WIB.
Joni said that Papandayan Train by PT KAI will be available for Rp252,000, while the economy class will be priced at Rp156,000. Moving on to Pangandaran Train, the executive class is set at Rp296,000, with the economy class at Rp180,000. Finally, for Malabar Train, the executive class is priced at Rp420,000, and the economy class is available for Rp240,000.
“As new services, we are opening them with a discounted price. For example, the executive class of Papandayan Train that is usually priced at Rp315,000 is currently priced at Rp252,000. The same goes for the economy class of Papandayan Train that is promoted from Rp195,000 to Rp156,000,” Joni explained.
Previously, as of Thursday (18/1), PT KAI has operated Taksaka Train (Gambir-Yogyakarta) using new generation executive trains and new generation luxury trains.
The new generation trains are part of the procurement of the 612 units of new generation stainless steel trains from 2023 to 2026 by PT INKA (Persero). KAI has also operated new general executive and luxury trains for Argo-Dwipangga Train (Gambir-Solo Balapan) since 13 December 2023 and Argo Lawu Train (Gambir-Solo Balapan) since 18 December 2023.
“KAI’s effort to upgrade the comfort of trains is expected to advance railway transportation. So, it will be more attractive to people so that they will use railway service,” Joni concluded.
KCIC facilitates connectivity
Meanwhile, PT Kereta Cepat Indonesia China (KCIC) is continuously facilitating connectivity for people who want to go to Whoosh stations by continuously collaborating with all stakeholders.
One of the collaborations is with the transportation agencies of West Java and Kota Baru Parahyangan to provide the last mile and first mile services from and to Padalarang High-speed Railway Station.
KCIC Corporate Secretary GM Eva Chairunisa affirmed that cooperation with transportation service providers was a step to facilitate the connectivity of people to high-speed railway stations and vice versa.
“With the integration of various modes of transportation, people have various choices to reach the stations. Intermodal integration answers the people’s demand for ease of access towards the stations,” Eva said.
Eva said that Padalarang High-speed Railway Station provided the Trans Metro Pasundan 2D service serving the Kota Baru Parahyangan – Padalarang Whoosh Station – Cimahi – Alun-alun Bandung route. As many as 20 Trans Metro Pasundan buses operate every day from day to night from 4:30 AM WIB to 8:00 PM WIB.
Besides that, there is also a shuttle service to Kota Baru Parahyangan that can be used for free by Whoosh passengers. There are 30 free shuttle trips every day with 15 trips from Padalarang Whoosh Station and 15 trips from Kota Baru Parahyangan.
The Trans Metro Pasundan buses and free shuttle service to Kota Baru Parahyangan can be accessed from the drop off area at Padalarang Station, which facilitate passengers who have just arrived or will use Whoosh from Padalarang Whoosh Station.
The Trans Metro Pasundan buses and free shuttle service at Padalarang Whoosh Station complement the intermodal service at Padalarang Whoosh Station that already has feeder trains to Cimahi and Bandung, the Commuter Line to Cicalengka and Garut, as well as Blue Bird taxis.
“The intermodal integration is an improvement of KCIC’s service for Whoosh passengers. With intermodal services to various areas, people’s interest in shifting to mass transportation, especially to Whoosh, will increase,” Eva concluded.
