Bandung - West Java Provincial Government is commencing the construction of Sodongkopo Bridge in Nusawiru, Cijulang Subdistrict, Pangandaran Regency.

Sodongkopo Bridge connects 91 kilometres of coastline from Batuhiu, Bojongsalawe, Nusawiru, Batukaras, to Madasari. It also connects Nusawiru Airport that is often used for flights.

West Java Governor Ridwan Kamil hopes that Sodongkopo Bridge will be completed at the end of 2023. Sodongkopo Bridge will replace the emergency Bailey bridge that was dismantled in May.

“I pray that there is no hinderance so that the people can take advantage [of the bridge immediately]. Previously, traveling from and to Batukaras took around one hour. Now, it only takes 10 minutes,” Ridwan Kamil said on Sunday (9/7).

According to the Governor, Sodongkopo Bridge is a commitment of the provincial government to improve regional connectivity in Pangandaran that will stimulate the region’s tourism and economy.

Sodongkopo Bridge continues the construction of dozens of kilometres of roads from Madasari Bridge that has been completed.

The provincial government has allocated Rp72 billion to develop infrastructures in Pangandaran.

“Pangandaran Regency has been allocated Rp72 billion. [Projects] have been tendered, won, and are ready to be accelerated. If there is no hindrance, it will inshallah (God willing) be competed between November-December,” Ridwan Kamil said.

Meanwhile, Kujang Sepasang Tower in Sumedang Regency will be inaugurated in August 2023.

“In August, we will inaugurate [Kujang Sepasang Tower]. It is a gift for the people of Jatigede who was affected by Jatigede Dam [that was constructed] for citizens in Sumedang and West Java,” Ridwan Kamil said.

According to him, Kujang Sepasang Tower is believed to boost the people’s economy through tourism.

Sumedang Regency Regional Secretary Herman Suryatman mentioned that there were three aspects prepared regarding the plan to inaugurate Kujang Sepasang Monument. One of them is related to the completeness of the interior of Kujang Sepasang.

“The main building has been completed. So, only the interior remains to be completed,” Herman revealed.
