Jakarta - The construction progress of Makassar New Port Toll Access Road spanning 3.2 km that is currently being worked on by the subsidiary of PT Nusantara Infrastructure Tbk in the toll road sector, PT Makassar Metro Network (MMN), has reached 73.03% as of 10 July 2023. The national strategic project (PSN) that is constructed to create connectivity in eastern Indonesia is currently completing the box girder erection process by using the shoring method.

“The construction is currently completing various structural activities. Next, LRB (lead rubber bearing) installation, paving, and at-grade ramp relocation will be carried out,” PT Makassar Metro Network (MMN) President Director Ismail Malliungan said in his official statement on Wednesday (12/7/2023).

Ismail explained that the construction of Makassar New Port Toll Access Road would facilitate logistics mobility and boost economic growth in Makassar City. The project will be connected from Makassar Reform Toll Road (JTSE Toll Road) to Makassar New Port’s container port and from Makassar Industrial Estate (Kima) to Makassar New Port’s container port.

“The toll road is also expected to smooth out export and import routes that go through the port that connects Makassar to other cities in South Sulawesi and surrounding provinces,” he stated.

Moreover, he continued that the project was also expected to reduce traffic jams for the transportation of goods and logistics by providing direct access from and to Makassar New Port.

“So, Makassar New Port toll road will support the operation of Makassar New Port,” Ismail explained.

Moreover, the construction of Makassar New Port Toll Access Road will be carried out in three stages. The first stage is carried out from the old port (Section 1) to Makassar New Port. Meanwhile, the construction of the second stage is carried out from the airport (Section 4) to Makassar New Port.
