Investor Daily - ASDP perkuat transformasi digital layanan penyeberangan

16 July 2024

Jakarta, ID — Over the past five years, under the leadership of State-Owned Enterprises (SOE) Minister Erick Thohir, PT ASDP Indonesia Ferry (Persero) has achieved significant milestones in the company’s transformation through the digitalisation of ferry services.

ASDP’s President Director Ira Puspadewi stated that this programme has brought significant changes to the ferry service experience, particularly on the busy Merak-Bakauheni and Ketapang-Gilimanuk routes, by implementing the Ferizy e-ticketing system, which was officially launched in 2020.

“The Ferizy E-Ticketing [System], which was inaugurated by three ministers—the State-Owned Enterprises Minister, the Transportation Minister, and the Tourism and Creative Economy Minister—has now become a new cultural norm for accessing ferry tickets. More than 2.3 million users have experienced its convenience and comfort," said Ira in a press release quoted on Monday (15/07/2024).

ASDP’s digital transformation journey began in August 2018 with the implementation of prepaid cards on EDC machines. It continued in June 2019 with ticket purchases at counters and vending machines using electronic ID card readers and passport readers. In May 2020, the Ferizy system enabled online ticket purchases through the Ferizy website and application, offering more than 120 payment methods.

Since its launch in 2020, Ferizy has experienced rapid user growth—from 438,105 users in the first year to 655,951 users in 2023—demonstrating increased public trust and awareness of online ticket booking.

State-Owned Enterprises Minister Erick Thohir expressed full support and appreciation for the Ferizy online ticketing system. “The digital transformation implemented by SOEs has increased revenue and achieved significant net profit, even amid the pandemic. We should be grateful for this,” said Erick.

Erick’s visit to ASDP ports in 2023 confirmed that ASDP’s innovations have helped alleviate congestion at the ports, especially during peak seasons. “During the 2024 Eid transportation period, 95% of motorcycle travellers and 90% of four-wheeled vehicle travellers purchased ferry tickets via e-ticketing. This demonstrates that homecoming [travel] services are becoming better planned and executed, and the digitalisation campaign has effectively reached the public,” added Erick.

Meanwhile, ASDP’s consistency in implementing transformation through accelerated digitalisation across all business processes, including ferry ticket services, has positively impacted corporate performance in 2023. ASDP achieved audited revenue of Rp5.03 trillion and net profit of Rp637 billion.

“The 2023 revenue exceeded the total revenue in pre-Covid-19 normal conditions in 2019, reaching Rp3.328 trillion, marking a 15% increase compared to the realisation in 2022 of Rp4.38 trillion. As for net profit in 2023, it reached Rp637 billion, representing 92% of the target and growing 9% from the 2022 profit of Rp585 billion. This year, ASDP achieved its highest net profit in its history,” stated Ira.
