Investor Daily - Delapan tahun dibangun, Cimanggis-Cibitung resmi tersambung

10 July 2024

Jakarta, ID – Indonesian Vice President Ma’ruf Amin has inaugurated the Cimanggis-Cibitung toll road spanning 26.18 kilometres (km) with a total investment value of Rp10.6 trillion. The toll road is predicted to cut travel time from Cimanggis to Cibitung to only around 30-45 minutes from previously 1-2 hours via arterial roads.

“Connectivity in Jakarta and its surroundings is expected to improve with the integration of the Cimanggis-Cibitung toll road with the toll road network in the Greater Jakarta area,” Ma’ruf said as quoted from the official Indonesian Vice President website in Jakarta on Tuesday (97/2024).

He noted that the Cimanggis-Cibitung toll road, which is a national strategic project (PSN), would boost the efficiency and effectiveness of economic activities in the area, which will contribute to regional and national economic development.

He provided three strategic steps to support the effort. The first step is to ensure the development of the Cimanggis-Cibitung toll road that is poised to bring extensive benefits to the populace.

The Vice President stated that the second step was to implement environmental, social, and governance (ESG) aspects in toll road development. He emphasised that the third step was to implement sustainability principles in toll road development.

Public Works and Housing (PUPR) Minister Basuki Hadimuljono added that the toll road would enhance road capacity in the regions it traverses. After the Cimanggis-Cibitung toll road is fully operational, JORR 2 spanning 111 km will be fully connected from Cengkareng, Kunciran, Serpong, Cinere, Jagorawi, Cimanggis, Cibitung, to Cilincing.

“So, if a traveller from the west wants to go to the east, they do not have to enter Jakarta anymore. They can go through the [Cimanggis-Cibitung] toll road to Cikampek. So, it will reduce traffic congestion in Jakarta,” Basuki said.

Meanwhile, PT Sarana Multi Infrastruktur President Director Edwin Syahruzad stated that his company would persistently support sustainable development and growth acceleration through innovative sustainable solutions to build a better future for Indonesia.

“The incorporation of PT SMI in PT Cimanggis Cibitung Tollways as the concession holder of the Cimanggis-Cibitung toll road in 2022 is a form of the implementation of the company’s functions and values to participate in the acceleration of infrastructure development in Indonesia,” he explained.

Edwin also reported that the toll road construction took a long time from 2016 as land acquisition in a congested urban area was challenging. However, the completion of the Cimanggis-Cibitung toll road could increase road capacity in four areas, namely Depok City, Bekasi City, Bogor Regency, and Bekasi Regency.

“The toll road will facilitate the mobility of commuters and logistics in industrial areas in Greater Jakarta,” he added.
