Investor Daily - Progress jalan tol akses IKN capai 90%

22 July 2024

Jakarta, ID – Nusantara Capital City (IKN) Infrastructure Development Task Force of the Ministry of Public Works and Housing (PUPR) revealed that the toll road from Balikpapan to IKN was set to operate on 17 August 2024 on Indonesia’s Independence Day.

IKN Infrastructure Development Task Force Head Danis H Sumadilaga said that the toll road from Balikpapan to IKN was set to be operational by 17 August 2024.

“The PUPR Ministry currently is constructing the 3A, 3B and 5A sections of the toll road which, inshallah (God willing), will reached 90% on average. We will operate one route with two to three lanes towards IKN,” explained Danis in his press statement, quoted on Sunday (21/7/2024).

The current travel time from Balikpapan to IKN is approximately two and a half hours by road. Through the new toll road, it can be reduced to only one hour.

“Traveling from Balikpapan takes two and a half hours. However, once the toll road is operational, it will only take one to one and a half hours. So, we save one and a half hours. Hopefully, it could be realised by 17 August,” Danis said.

To ensure the readiness and success of IKN development, the communication team between ministries/institutions that encompasses the Executive Office of the President (KSP), the Ministry of State Secretariat (Kemensetneg), the Ministry of Communication and Informatics (Kominfo), the Ministry of PUPR, and the Nusantara Capital City Authority (OIKN) will conduct joint working visits to IKN, East Kalimantan. These visits are expected to provide a clear picture of the conditions in the field.

These working visits will be made to several locations designated by the government, such as the Plaza Seremoni, the Presidential Palace, and the Sepaku River Intake. During these visits, the group will inspect the facilities and infrastructure related to the readiness of the location for the 79th Indonesian Independence Day ceremony in IKN.

Danis has shared several updates on the ongoing development of IKN. These updates include the readiness of the ceremonial ground, the presidential palace, and water infrastructure. All these efforts are aimed at ensuring a seamless celebration of Indonesia’s 79th Independence Day on 17 August 2024.

"A raw water source is already in place in IKN. Additionally, there is another source, which is Sepaku Semoi Dam. Technically, the capacity of Sepaku Intake is 3,000 litres per second. Meanwhile, Sepaku Semoi Dam produces 2,500 litres per second," said Danis.

He stated that for phase one, the raw water source would be obtained from Sepaku Intake. "The water will be treated at a facility located adjacent to the intake. After treatment, it will be transported through a pipeline extending over 16 km to the government centre. From there, it will be distributed to each parcel in every building. This process ensures the provision of clean water for use in IKN," he said.
