Jakarta - Aircraft passenger movement at all airports of PT Angkasa Pura/AP II (Persero) in May 2023 reached 7.14 million passengers, which is the highest in the last three years since the Covid-19 pandemic occurred in 2020. That number increased by 14% from April 2023 and by 18% from May 2022.
AP II President Director Muhammad Awaluddin said that passenger movement in May 2023 approached the normal condition in 2019 before the pandemic. In 2019, the number of passenger movement at AP II airports reached around 90.77 million passengers, so the average monthly number of passengers was around 7.56 million.
“May 2023 was the busiest month for AP II since the pandemic hit in 2020. The number of passengers in May 2023 was the highest since the pandemic occurred, and it almost matched the condition in 2019 before the pandemic. Thanks to the great coordination among AP II, airlines, and other stakeholders in managing and accommodating the growing demand amid the recovery period,” Awaluddin said in his official statement in Jakarta on Friday (2/6/2023).
From 1 to 31 May 2023, all AP II airports logged 53,586 flights and 58.88 million tonnes of cargo.
On the other hand, from 1 to 31 May 2023, the largest and busiest airport in Indonesia that is managed by AP II, Soekarno-Hatta Airport, logged 4.51 million passengers that consisted of 3.42 million domestic route passengers and 1.08 million international route passengers.
