Jakarta - The Public Works and Housing (PUPR) Ministry stated that there were 39 construction packages left in Nusantara Capital City (IKN) construction project phase 1 commencing in July 2023.

PUPR Minister Basuki Hadimuljono mentioned that the progress of IKN development phase 1 has reached 29.45% this month.

He stated that IKN project phase 1 could be completed near the 79th Independence Day of Indonesia in 2024, so it could be commemorated in IKN.

“There are currently 36 construction packages that are still ongoing, and the remaining 39 packages will be commenced in July 2023. So, do not hesitate to invest and be a part of the effort to realise the dream of the Indonesian people,” he said at Monas in Jakarta on Thursday (1/6).

Basuki added that construction challenges in IKN development could be resolved quickly. He hopes that that can assure investors about the continuity of the IKN project.

The government is currently involving experts from Japan and South Korea to boost IKN development.

“As we are engineers, we can surely handle it through an engineering process. Everything can be adjusted,” he said.

He said that all ministries in the Indonesia Forward cabinet were working on their tasks to realise IKN development.

The PUPR Minister is assigned to work on basic infrastructures and roads this year.

“Investments are handled by the [IKN] Authority. So, they believe that IKN will be carried out. Yesterday, they [investors from Singapore] believed it. Hopefully, it will be processed by the [IKN] Authority so that the investments can be followed up,” Basuki said.

Regarding the construction progress of IKN Toll Road, Basuki stated that the toll road was set to be completed in June 2024.

According to him, the construction of IKN Toll Road that will be connected to Balikpapan-Samarinda Toll Road is carried out to accelerate the connectivity to Central Government Core Area (KIPP) in IKN.

“After IKN Toll Road is completed, travel time to KIPP will only take around 30-40 minutes. Now, it takes around 2 hours,” Basuki said.

He provided evaluations on the construction of IKN Toll Road Segment 3B (KKT Kariangau-Sp. Tempadung) and the nursery area in Balikpapan.

“Later, [plants] will be planted to improve the aesthetics of the toll road according to the species. Several plants that are ready to be planted are blackboard trees, Madagascar almonds, toonas, agathis dammaras, weeping figs, and monkey pod trees that are suited for the toll road corridor,” he stated.

Moreover, the nursery area will receive water supply from Rawa Buaya River with a maximum capacity of 5,000 litres per day. The nursery area is handled by the Indonesian Army Retirees Association (PPAD) with 30 people.

Moreover, on IKN Toll Road Segment 3B, 2.3 hectares of 12 nursery tents will be erected to accommodate 52,000 trees, which will continue to increase to hundreds of thousands of trees that will be planted on the toll road corridor.

Currently, several plant species out of 89 plant species are being adapted to the local condition.
