Jakarta - The flight of Emirates’ Airbus A380-800 to I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport in Bali is expected to support the national tourism sector.

On Thursday (1/6/2023) at 4:35 PM WITA (Central Indonesian Time), the largest commercial aircraft in the world, the Airbus A380-800, of Emirates that is flying the Dubai-Denpasar route (round trip) landed at I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport.

Air Transportation Director General M. Kristi Endah Murni said that the two-storey-wide-body aircraft was one of the aircrafts that is flying the Dubai-Denpasar route, which can carry 460 passengers.

“We are welcoming and appreciating the maiden flight of the largest commercial aircraft of Emirates that will serve the route from Dubai to the Island of the Gods. It will positively impact Indonesian aviation and support the economy as well as tourism in Indonesia,” Kristi said in her official statement in Jakarta this week.

To welcome the arrival of the A380-800 aircraft, Kristi said that her agency through Regional IV Airport Authority Office and all aviation stakeholders and all other related parties have prepared and checked all facilities and infrastructure in the air side and the land side.

“With the large capacity of the aircraft and its body that is two storeys high, it needs extra care as the facilities and the equipment that are required are different from other aircrafts so that its operation can be carried out safely, securely, and comfortably,” Kristi said.

At I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport, Regional IV Airport Authority Office Head Agustinus Budi Hartono explained that his agency has ensured the facilities and infrastructure that are required by Emirates’ A380 aircraft. Intensive coordination with related parties, such as PT Angkasa Pura/AP I (Persero) as the airport operator, Emirates as the airline that operates the A380, Airnav as the air traffic organiser, the ground-handling team, as well as other related parties has been established to ensure that the facilities and infrastructure are in line with the safety and security provisions of the flight.
