Investor Daily - Jembatan Nusantara perkuat layanan angkutan penyeberangan

4 June 2024

Jakarta, ID – PT Jembatan Nusantara (JN) as a subsidiary of PT ASDP Indonesia Ferry (Persero) continues to optimise ferry services in more than 20 regions in Indonesia to maximise connectivity and spur economic growth of the people.

ASDP Indonesia Ferry Corporate Secretary Shelvy Arifin said that JN, which has been a subsidiary since the acquisition by ASDP in 2022, has continued to expand its service area, and together with ASDP continues to strengthen ferry transportation services in the country. Both are committed to being at the forefront in implementing standardised safety and providing excellent services to all service users.

“JN’s commercial services at many crossings are focused on supporting and maximising the parent [company’s] target of facilitating people and logistics mobilisation in several regions, especially those only accessible through ferry,” said Shelvy in a release statement quoted on Monday (03/06/2024).

JN’s fleet consists of 53 units, which are currently actively serving on 21 routes, including Air Putih-Sei Selari in Batam, Amolengo-Labuan in Baubau, Bajoe-Kolaka, Balikpapan-Mamuju, Balikpapan-Pare Pare, Balikpapan-Taipa Palu, Bardan- Siantan, Batam-Bintan, Batam-Kuala Tungkal, Batam-Sei Selari, Batulicin-Tanjung Serdang, Dumai-Rupat, Kariangau-Panajam, Kayangan-Pototano, Ketapang-Gilimanuk, Lembar-Ketapang, Lembar-Padangbai, Merak-Bakauheni, Surabaya-Ende, Surabaya-Labuan Bajo, and Tanjung Api-api-Muntok.

Meanwhile, the routes served by JN’s ships include Air Putih-Sei Selari in Batam, Bajoe-Kolaka, Balikpapan-Mamuju, Balikpapan-Pare Pare, Balikpapan-Taipa Palu, Bardan-Siantan in Pontianak, and long-distance routes from Surabaya to Kupang and Sape through the Surabaya-Ende and Surabaya-Labuan Bajo routes. Currently, for long-distance ferry (LDF) route, JN serves the Balikpapan-Pare-pare route by operating the KMP Swarna Bahtera with a capacity of 4,538 GT and a travel time of approximately 34 hours.

“The presence of JN services at many crossings is vital in facilitating the logistics distribution process in Central and Eastern Indonesia and facilitating people’s mobility to travel between islands, such as from Java to Bali, from Kalimantan to Sulawesi, and from Java to East Nusa Tenggara,” said Shelvy.

Meanwhile, ASDP continues to boost digitalised services by launching online ferry ticket reservations at Bajoe and Kolaka Ports starting Monday (3/6). Shelvy said that ASDP continues to accelerate the digitalisation of crossing tickets and is targeting all ports in ASDP’s working area to implement an e-ticketing system.

“Currently, we are starting to focus on digitalising ports outside Java. We hope that e-ticketing can facilitate people mobilisation and logistics distribution in every region, down to the frontier, outermost, and underdeveloped (3T) regions. However, some regions still require further study to make it easier for people to access this Ferizy website or application,” she explained.

The interconnection of each region, she continued, will affect the lives of local communities, especially in areas separated by rivers, straits, and bays. The presence of a reliable sea crossing transportation system will greatly support regional connectivity and increase economic growth and equitable development in the regions.

The Ports of Bajoe and Kolaka in South Sulawesi play an important role in connecting regions, and can shorten the length of travel for goods and people via sea crossing transportation routes.
