Jakarta - North Sumatra Provincial Government is targeting the construction of Binjai-Langsa toll road, specifically the Pangkalan Brandan-Kuala Simpang section, to be completed this year.

North Sumatra Governor Edy Rahmayadi said that his agency is accelerating the land acquisition process so that it can be completed, so toll road construction activities that are part of Trans-Sumatra Toll Road (JTTS) can be accelerated.

“This year, the toll road must be completed, especially the route from North Sumatra to Kuala Simpang (Aceh Tamiang),” Edy said to Bisnis (8/3).

Meanwhile, PT Hutama Karya Corporate Secretary Executive Vice President Tjahjo Purnomo explained that the construction progress of Stabat-Tanjung Pura toll segment has reached 73.84%. Moreover, the progress of Tanjung Pura-Pangkalan Brandan toll segment has reached 48.08%.

“The toll segment is yet to be connected to Aceh this year as it is part of stage 3 of JTTS,” Tjahjo said.

North Sumatra Province and Aceh Province will be connected by Binjai-Langsa toll road. Binjai-Langsa toll road that spans 130.9 km has two stages, stage 1 consists of Binjai-Stabat (11.8 km) and Stabat-Pangkalan Brandan (46.2 km).

Meanwhile, stage 2 consists of Pangkalan Brandan-Langsa (72.9 km) that is set to be completed in 2024.

As it was previously reported, President Joko Widodo had inaugurated the Binjai-Stabat segment of Binjai-Langsa toll road section 1 that spans 11.8 km.

The construction of Binjai-Langsa toll road that spans 130.9 km has 2 stages. Stage 1 that consists of Binjai-Stabat that spans 11.8 km and Stabat-Pangkalan Brandan that spans 46.2 km.

Stage 2 consists of Pangkalan Brandan-Langsa spanning 72.9 km that is set to be completed in 2024.
