Jakarta, ID – Indonesian President Joko Widodo recently inaugurated the Presidential Instruction on Regional Roads in East Kalimantan. This event took place following the groundbreaking ceremony for numerous infrastructure projects the Nusantara Capital City (IKN).
“Bismillahhirrahmannirrahim (In the name of Allah, The Most Gracious and The Most Merciful), this afternoon, I am inaugurating the implementation of the Presidential Instruction on Regional Roads in East Kalimantan,” Jokowi said as quoted from the official website of the Secretariat Cabinet in Jakarta on Friday (1/3/2024).
During the occasion, President Jokowi said that 10 road segments and one bridge in East Kalimantan spanning 50.9 kilometres (km) have been constructed for Rp561 billion.
The inauguration of the Presidential Instruction on Regional Roads in East Kalimantan was marked with the sounding of a siren and the signing of an inscription.
Previously, the President had also conducted groundbreaking ceremonies for several infrastructure projects in IKN, such as for bank offices and the BPJS Kesehatan Office in IKN.
Jokowi had also observed the development of the Presidential Office and conducted a ceremony to mark the completion of the civil servant housing in IKN.
The ten road segments and one bridge in East Kalimantan are the Riko-Maridan segment in North Penajam Paser Regency spanning 6.5 km with a cost of Rp44.7 billion, the Batu Cave Access-Tapak Raja segment in North Penajam Paser Regency spanning 9.6 km with a cost of Rp91.3 billion, the Batu Cave Access-Tapak Raja bridge spanning 20 metres with a cost of Rp8 billion, the Loleng segment in Kutai Kartanegara Regency spanning 2.5 km with a cost of Rp26.1 billion.
There are also the Batu Interchange-Labuan segment in Paser Regency spanning 5.8 km with a cost of Rp50.2 billion, the Poros Tanjung Isuy Interchange-Tanjung Jan-Pulau Lanting segment in West Kutai Regency spanning 4.8 km with a cost of Rp45.4 billion, the Proklamasi segment in Balikpapan spanning 2.5 kilometres with a cost of Rp43.4 billion, the Kenyamukan Port access in East Kutai Regency spanning 0.65 km with a cost of Rp89.4 billion.
Next, there are the Ir. Soekarno-Hatta-M. Roem-Urip Soemojardjo segment in Bontang spanning 4 km with a cost of Rp54.1 billion, the Lenggo-Teluk Sulaiman segment in Berau Regency spanning 8 km with a cost of Rp59.1 billion, the Long Hubung-Jalan Poros segment in Mahakam Ulu Regency spanning 6.5 km with a cost of Rp49.1 billion.
The construction of these infrastructure projects is part of the government’s commitment to improving connectivity and supporting economic growth in the region. These regional roads are expected to enhance transportation efficiency, facilitate mobility, and unlock new economic opportunities in East Kalimantan.
