Jakarta - The construction of Jakarta MRT phase 2A from Thamrin Station to Monas Station is progressing as scheduled. As of 25 April 2023, the construction has reached 56.2%.

“As of 25 April 2023, the construction has reached 56.2%. At the same time, tunnel boring machine 1 (TBM-1) has reached Bundaran HI Station and broken through the wall,” PT MRT Jakarta (Perseroda) Corporate Secretary Division Head Ahmad Pratomo said in his official statement on Friday (5/5/2023).

Ahmad explained that constructions at Monas Station have included substation emergency staircase casting, platform wall casting, bore pile construction for shaft box jacking launching at Jalan Museum entrance, ventilation tower wall casting, substation inner wall construction, waterproofing, substation concrete backfilling, station wastewater drainpipe installation, and station cable route installation.

Meanwhile, according to Ahmad, at Thamrin Station, ongoing constructions include roof slab drilling and casting in the north side, concourse slab drilling in the south side of the station, jet grouting in the south side of the station, and roof slab waterproofing in the north and south sides of the station.

“Next, TBM 1 will be disassembled and relocated to the north side of Monas Station to carry out southbound drilling towards Harmoni Station. Meanwhile, tunnel boring machine 2 (TBM-2) has commenced the construction of the northbound tunnel to Harmoni Station, which has reached 456 metres (304 rings),” Ahmad explained.

Ahmad mentioned that the construction progress of Harmoni-Sawah Besar-Mangga Besar Stations has reached 12.338%. Besides that, CP 203, which is part of the construction of MRT phase 2A that includes the construction of Glodok Station and Kota Station, is progressing as scheduled.

“As of 25 April 2023, the development has reached 32.43%. The constructions at Glodok Station include middle slab/concourse slab drilling, top slab/roof slab construction, and ground improvement to prepare for the launching of the tunnel boring machine,” he said.

Then, constructions in Kota Station currently include the D-Wall construction in the east side and the Kota Pedestrian Bridge structure investigation. He explained that Jakarta MRT phase 2A would connect Bundaran HI Station to Kota Station that is 5.8 kilometres away through seven underground stations. The seven stations are Thamrin, Monas, Harmoni, Sawah Besar, Mangga Besar, Glodok, and Kota. Phase 2A is divided into two segments. The first segment is Bundaran HI-Harmoni that is set to be completed in 2027 and the second segment is Harmoni-Kota that is set to be completed in 2029.

“Phase 2B of Jakarta MRT is planned to continue [the route] from Kota to West Ancol Depot, which is still in feasibility study,” he stated.
