River Basin Centre Kalimantan IV Samarinda claims that Sepaku Semoi Dam project in East Kalimantan is the fastest project in Indonesia.

River Basin Centre Kalimantan IV Samarinda Head Harya Muldianto said that the construction progress of the dam that supports the new capital city (IKN) has reached 74%.

“It started in 2020. Now, it has reached 74%. It is one of the fastest [projects] in Indonesia,” he said in Samarinda on Sunday (6/11).

Besides the dam project, there are several other projects that support the IKN, namely Sepaku pipe network construction, raw water procurement for nursery in Mentawir, DAS Sanggai 1A flood control construction, and retention basin construction in core government area (KIPP). “Every project is predicted to be ready in 2024.”

Harya is quite optimistic about all basic infrastructures in the IKN progressing in line with the target.

He explained that the construction of basic infrastructures in the IKN is continuously accelerated, and they can be completed in 2024. Moreover, there are several projects that can be completed before said year.

After the issuance of Law No. 3/2022 on IKN, the government is continuously boosting the construction of the IKN.

For the early stage, especially for the construction of KIPP, the government is still relying on the state budget (APBN) as investment from the private sector has not entered for the project. “We are optimistic because we are working in two shifts so that the target can be achieved,” Harya stated.

Meanwhile, the IKN is currently still in the land clearing stage for the construction of government offices.

Generally, basic infrastructures have not be constructed in the area.

The closest target is the presidential palace. The construction of the palace has been tendered, and it is ready to commence early construction by PT Pembangunan Perumahan (Persero) Tbk or PTPP.

According to the statement of the implementor in the field, the IKN will be constructed using the smart city concept. The construction of KIPP will be fully funded by the APBN, while the supporting areas will be supported by the private sector.

East Kalimantan Regional Infrastructure and Settlement Centre Head Rozali Indra Saputra said that the KIPP in IKN Nusantara would be the government’s priority.
