15 November 2023

Jakarta - Adhi Karya (Persero) Tbk (ADHI) signed two new contracts for the construction of gas engine power plants (PLTMGs) in Sumbawa, West Nusa Tenggara and Tobelo, North Maluku. These power plants will be owned by PLN. The total value of ADHI’s portion of the contracts is around Rp701.1 billion.

The contracts have been signed by ADHI President Director Entus Asnawi Mukhson, Korea Electric Power Corporation Engineering & Construction, Inc. (KEPCO) CEO Sung Arm Km, and PLN President Director Darmawan Prasodjo. The activity was witnessed by PT Bagus Karya President Director Henry Kurli, Jiangxi Jiusheng International Electric Power Engineering Co Ltd President Director Li Guofan, and KEPCO Executive Senior Vice President Bae Kim.

“For the construction, ADHI will tap a South Korean company, Korea Electric Power Corporation Engineering & Construction, Inc., by establishing a consortium through the joint operation (JO) scheme,” ADHI Corporate Secretary Farid Budiyanto said in his official statement on Tuesday (14/11/2023),

Farid mentioned that, in the PLTMG project in Tobelo that has a capacity of 30 MW, Adhi Karya’s portion reaches 52.8% and KEPCO’s portion reaches 47.2%. Meanwhile, in the PLTMG project in Sumbawa that has a capacity of 30 MW, ADHI’s portion reaches 50.1% and KEPCO’s portion reaches 49.9%. The construction of both projects is planned to start at the end of 2023.

“The cooperation on this project is in line with the directive of the Energy and Mineral Resources Ministry to reduce coal-fired power plants. So, one of the alternatives is gas engine power plants. To realise energy transition, gas will also be utilised to reduce CO2 production and ensure that the environmental sustainability principle is implemented by future generations,” Farid revealed.
