Jakarta - Public Works and Housing (PUPR) Minister Basuki Hadimuljono said that the length of toll roads have increased by 410 kilometres (km) in 2023. Out of that length, 218 km are fully operational.
“In 2023, our toll roads have increased by 410 km. 218 km are fully operational, while the remaining 192 km will operate on a functional basis during the 2023-2024 Nataru (Christmas and New Year) period,” Basuki said at a work meeting with House of Representatives (DPR) Commission V in Jakarta on Wednesday (22/11/2023).
In Java, the length of operational toll roads increased by 110.3 km. Meanwhile, the total length of operational toll roads reaches 1,782 km. There are also 92 rest areas constructed on these toll roads.
The toll roads are Cinere-Jagorawi toll road section 3A (Kukusan-Krukut Interchange) and ramp 4.5 (Krukut Interchange), Cinere-Jagorawi toll road section 3B (Krukut Interchange -Cinere), Bekasi-Cawang-Kampung Melayu toll road sections 2A (Ujung Jakasampurna-Marga Jaya), CImanggis-Cibitung toll road section 2A (Jatikarya-Cikeas), and Serpong-Cinere toll road section 2 (Pamulang-Cinere).
Next, there are Cibitung-Cilincing toll road section 4 (Tarumajaya-Cilincing Interchange), Pasuruan-Probolinggo toll road section 4A (East Probolinggo-Gending), Ciawi-Sukabumi toll road section 2 (Cigombong-Cibadak), Cileunyi-Sumedang-Dawuan (Cisumdawu) toll road), Semarang-Demak toll road section 2 (Sayung-Demak), and Cimanggis-Cibitung toll road section 2B (Cikeas-Cibitung).
Meanwhile, toll roads that are ready to operate on a functional basis during the 2023-2024 Nataru period are South Jakarta-Cikampek (Japek) 2 toll road (Kutanegara-Sadang segment) and Solo-Yogyakarta toll road (Kartasura-Karanganom segment) spanning 13 km.
“Last Eid, it reached Pakis. However, during this year’s Nataru [period], it will reach Karanganom spanning 13 km in length,” he added.
Meanwhile, in Sumatra, there are several toll roads that will operate on a functional basis during the Nataru period. The toll roads are Kuala Tanjung-Tebing Tinggi-Parapat toll road spanning 71 km, Bangkinang-Tanjung Alai toll road spanning 25 km, and Binjai Langsa toll road (Kuala Bingai-Tanjungpura section) spanning 19 km.
Besides that, to support homecoming flow during the 2023-2024 Nataru period, the PUPR Ministry is also widening Cikampek-Palimanan toll road by adding an additional lane. So, the toll road will have three lanes to accommodate traffic.
“Cikampek-Palimanan toll road is also expanded to anticipate [traffic] from Cisumdawu from KM 71-85. We will be able to use it from ten days before the Nataru [period]. It can be completed by 100%,” Basuki concluded.
