Jakarta - Transportation Minister Budi Karya Sumadi ensures that he will support the industrialisation process by providing transportation connectivity to all of Indonesia.

“We will support the industrialisation process with the connectivity scheme. We will provide the maritime highway, pioneer [ships], and urban mass transportation so that industries can operate smoothly,” Transportation Minister Budi said at the 14th Kompas 100 CEO Forum Powered by PLN themed Towards Golden Indonesia in Jakarta on Wednesday (1/11/2023).

According to the Transportation Minister, industrialisation and transportation connectivity will allow Indonesia to be a high-income country or Golden Indonesia in 2045.

However, he reminded that both aspects are still related to sustainability, in line with Indonesia’s commitment to reducing carbon emission and achieving the net zero emission (NZE) target in 2060.

“We can be a Golden Indonesia, but if we cannot achieve sustainability, it will be our cross to bear,” Transportation Minister Budi said.

Regarding connectivity, he mentioned that President Joko Wiodo has carried out the groundbreaking of the airport in Nusantara Capital City (IKN) that is set to fully operate in December 2024.

“We were assigned to construct airports everywhere. So, we can make sure that growth and industrialisation are ever present. However, we must also maintain unity and harmony,” Budi said.

Meanwhile, during the opening of Construction Indonesia 2023, Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga hartarto said that massive and balanced infrastructure development was expected to be Indonesia’s capital to break free of the middle-income country status. The construction sector can also provide a multiplier effect to economic growth and jobs.

“Innovation and construction transformation are crucial so that traditional construction can implement a more modern and digital process, so construction progress can be accelerated. I hope that the meeting can produce ideas and construction that is effective, innovative, and resilient to natural disasters,” he stated.

Construction Development Director General of the PUPR Ministry Rachman Arief Dienaputra said that Construction Indonesia 2023 was a celebration and an appreciation for construction players for their active and positive contribution to national infrastructure development. The event also appreciates the spirit and the effort of all stakeholders in advancing the construction industry.
