Bisnis Indonesia - Penerbangan Bandara Kertajati: Persiapan sudah mantap

18 September 2023

Bandung - Kertajati West Java International Airport (BJB) in Majalengka Regency is preparing to receive the transfer of domestic and international flights from Husein Sastranegara Airport in Bandung City on 29 October 2023.

PT BIJB Corporate Secretary Dian Nurachman said that all preparations have been carried out by his company after it was confirmed by the Transportation Ministry that flight routes would be transferred.

“The preparations have been finalised. We have prepared many things, including human resources, technical [preparations], operational [preparations], and multimodal [transportation] that will support passenger flow to the airport. Generally, everything is on process. Inshallah (God willing), it is ready,” he said to Bisnis last week.

According to him, the management has prepared everything down to the smallest details at the airport. Dian admits that, as it has not served many flights in a long time, all aspects of the airport have been checked.

“Everything, we have even checked and replaced the tyres of the fire trucks,” he said.

The same goes for human resources. BIJB is improving the human resources so that they meet aviation standards. Dian mentioned that the aviation security (avsec) sector was lacking, so it will be improved by several percents.

“We are not opening a recruitment as it will take a long time. We need employees with licenses, so we are outsourcing them,” he said.

Dian revealed that several airlines have made preparations to carry out commercial flights from Kertajati BIJB in Majalengka or Kertajati Airport.

According to him, besides the preparations made by Kertajati Airport’s management, airlines at Husein Sastranegara Airport have also made preparations at Kertajati.

The airline transfer is a follow up to the decision made by the Transportation Ministry on 2 August 2023 to transfer flights from Husein Sastraneara Airport to Kertajati. ”Airlines have also gathered,” he said.

Airlines that have made preparations include Super Air Jet, Indonesia AirAsia, Malaysia Airlines, Citilink, and Malaysia AirAsia.

“We have told ground handling about the airlines. They have also leased offices, so it is already crowded,” he said.

Besides airlines, according to Dian, commercial tenants have also reopened. Several coffee shops and stores that sell passenger needs have been revived at Kertajati. “Tenants have been revived,” he said.

All domestic and international commercial flights at Husein Sastranegara Airport in Bandung will be transferred to Kertajati Airport in Majalengka on 29 October 2023.

Acting West Java Governor Bey Triadi Machmudin said that the decision to transfer the flights that was mandated by President Joko Widodo has been discussed at a meeting with agency heads in West Java Provincial Government.

“We are currently in a process with the Transportation Ministry to transfer [flights at Husein Sastranegara Airport] to Kertajati on 29 October, except for propeller aircrafts that will take one year [to be transferred],” he said at Gedung Sate.

High-speed railway

In another development, PT KAI (Persero) Operational Area (Daop) 2 Bandung has prepared a feeder train that serves the Bandung-Cimahi-Padalarang route to support the integrated connectivity of Jakarta-Bandung High-speed Railway (KCJB).

The feeder train is prepared to carry high-speed railway passengers from Padalarang Station to Bandung Station and vice versa in 19 minutes.

The feeder train will operate 72 trips every day that consist of 36 round trips from Padalarang to Bandung with a headway of 25 minutes.

The feeder train will use diesel-electric locomotives that are produced by PT INKA. Five diesel-electric locomotives have been prepared, and each will carry four carriages.

In a trainset, the KCJB feeder train can carry 200 passengers. To improve the comfort of customers, the KCJB feeder train is also fitted with luggage racks and toilets.

“The public can use the feeder train that has a schedule that has been adjusted to KCJB,” Daop 2 Bandung Executive President Takdir Santoso said.

The KCJB feeder train will be fitted with special waiting rooms at Bandung Station and Cimahi Station that have been 100% completed.

Meanwhile, the construction of the special waiting room at Padalarang Station is still in the final stages. KAI and KCIC are currently preparing the minimum service standards for the park and ride facility and the waiting rooms of the KCJB feeder train.

Before operating, the feeder train has passed a series of trial runs that implement various scenarios to ensure that travel time from Bandung-Padalarang, free space, power on inclines, and braking is satisfactory. It is meant to improve the operation of the feeder train to minimise disturbances in the field.

Meanwhile, KAI and KCIC will test the operation of the feeder train and the high-speed railway soon.

Daop 2 Bandung has prepared eight feeder train trips to accommodate the public who want to try the facility to continue their travels using the high-speed railway.

PT Kereta Cepat Indonesia-China (KCIC) revealed that his company has coordinated with Damri to provide shuttle buses for passengers who get off at Cimekar Station and Gedebage Station so that they can be connected to Tegalluar Station.

“If they want to use the high-speed railway, there will be shuttle buses from Cimekar Station and Gedebage Station,” KCIC Corporate Secretary General manager Eva Chairunisa said on Sunday (17/9).

Eva said that the strategy would improve the connectivity and the movement of KCJB passengers.

“We ensure that accessibility is one of the main points of the high-speed railway so that users can reach high-speed railway stations easily,” she stated.

For people who want to go to the centre of Bandung City, they can use the shuttle buses from Damri.

Passengers only need to get off at Tegalluar Station and use a shuttle bus, then they will be taken directly to Cimekar Station or Gedebage Station.

Besides shuttle buses at the two stations, she said that KCIC was continuously preparing and improving the accessibility of Tegalluar Station.

“Other areas can be accessed via Cibiru Bridge that we have opened, and we are also cooperating with Jasa Marga to provide a toll road access at KM 149 that has been opened,” she said.

Until now, her company is continuously coordinating with Jasa Marga to support other access, such as the toll road access at KM 151 A and KM 151 B that will be opened soon.
