Jakarta - PT Pulauintan Bajaperkasa Konstruksi has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on the construction and the development of the terminal as well as the extension of the runway at Singkawang Airport. Pulauintan will be responsible to design, build, and maintain the airport terminal in Singkawang that reaches 8,000 m2 in size.

Air Transportation Director General M. Kristi Endah Murni said that her agency would cooperate and collaborate to ensure that the design, the layout, and the operating infrastructure of the airport terminal is in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.

“The airport that will be constructed is expected to motive economic activities in Singkawang and its surroundings, such as boosting tourism, trade, and new jobs for locals,” Kristi said in her official statement in Jakarta on Wednesday (13/9/2023).

The Air Transportation Directorate General will continue to monitor the safety and the security aspects of the airport, and they will also ensure that it fully complies with international aviation standards to guarantee the welfare of all passengers, personnel, and visitors.

The cooperation that uses the corporate social responsibility (CSR) scheme is also a form of the government’s active role in implementing creative financing, which is achieved by tapping private companies to boost connectivity and economic growth. Kristi is also optimistic about the collaborative effort. She continued that the partnership with PT Pulauintan Bajaperkasa Konstruksi has been marked as the Indonesian government’s crucial step to improve infrastructure in West Kalimantan.

“The upcoming airport will not only benefit locals around Singkawang, but it will also function to improve the economy in West Kalimantan,” she said.

On the other hand, PT Pulauintan Bajaperkasa Konstruksi President Director Pui Sudarto is ready to commit to prioritising quality and professionalism, and he also ensures that the terminal at Singkawang Airport will be a symbol of economic growth in Singkawang and its surroundings.
