Jakarta - The Transportation Ministry is accelerating the readiness of the accessibilities of Jakarta-Bandung High-speed Railway (KCJB) ahead of its inauguration by President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) on 1 October 2023.

Transportation Minister Budi Karya Sumadi revealed that President Jokowi would try KCJB on 13 September 2023 and inaugurate it on 1 October 2023. Hence, his agency is ready to collaborate with various stakeholders, such as the Highways Director General of the PUPR Ministry, the ATR/BPN Ministry, Jakarta Provincial Government, West Java Provincial Government, Bandung Local Government, Bandung Regency Government, PT Jasa Marga, institutions, and private companies, to accelerate the readiness of the accessibilities of KCJB.

“Before operating on 1 October 2023, President Joko Widodo will try the high-speed railway on 13 September,” the Transportation Minister said in his official statement in Jakarta on Sunday (10/9/2023).

Meanwhile, the Transportation Minister had tried the high-speed railway and reviewed the development of accessibilities at the 4 KCJB stations on Saturday (9/9/2023). The stations include Halim Station in Jakarta, Karawang Station in West Java, Padalarang Station in West Java, and Tegalluar Station in West Java.

Some of the accessibilities that are constructed ahead of KCJB’s operation at Halim Station are DI Panjaitan road access phases I and II, the road access at Halim Station, and Halim Toll Road Exit at KM 1+842 that includes connecting roads. Then, accessibilities at Karawang Station include THK road access, KM 42+00 access, and the area road access.

Next, at Padalarang Station (KCJB feeder train station to Bandung Station), there is the station entrance access, toll roads, Gedonglima and Panaris regency roads, Padalarang-Cisarua provincial road, Padalarang national road, and the planned road access from Kota Baru Parahyangan.

Lastly, at Tegalluar Station in West Java, there is KM 151 access, Tegalluar dropzone, Cimekar Station-Tegalluar KCJB Station access, and Cibiru Bandung Bridge.

“Inshallah (God willing), everything will progress excellently. Hence, the West Java Acting Governor can make improvements if there is something left out. If it has been carried out, alhamdulillah (Praise be to God), thank you,” the Transportation Minister added.

Acting West Java Governor Bey Triadi Machmudin is optimistic about KCJB significantly boosting economic growth in his province.

“Moreover, the high-speed railway passes through three stations in West Java, namely Karawang Station, Padalarang Station in West Bandung, and Tegalluar Station in Bandung Regency. We believe that it will boost economic growth in West Java and grow new economic centres,” Bey said when he accompanied Transportation Minister Budi Karya Sumadi at Tegalluar High-speed Railway Depot in Bandung Regency on Saturday (9/9/2023).

Bey said that West Java Provincial Government was supporting the high-speed railway by preparing road infrastructure and modes of transportation to travel from and to the three stations.

“There is Trans Metro Bandung, Bandung Rapid Transit, and other [modes of transportation] to support the required access,” he stated.

Meanwhile, Highways Director General of the PUPR Ministry Hedy Rahadian affirmed that the construction of the toll road accessibility project to KCJB stations must commence at the end of this year.

“The construction must commence this year,” Highways Director General Hedy Rahadian said at a hearing with Commission V in Jakarta last week.

According to Hedy, the implementation of the toll road accessibility project to KCJB stations has been distributed, and the PUPR Ministry is assigned to conduct land acquisitions in Karawang in West Java. The same activity will also be carried out by the PUPR Ministry for the toll road accessibility project in Tegalluar in West java.

“There is a letter from the Cabinet Secretary Minister that requests the toll road accessibility project to KCJB stations to be included as a national strategic project (PSN). After it is included as a PSN, land acquisitions can be financed by the State Asset Management Agency or LMAN,” Hedy said.

No subsidy

Previously, the Transportation Minister affirmed that the government would not subsidise KCJB’s ticket prices.

“None,” the Transportation Minister said at a hearing with DPR Commission V on Thursday (7/9/2023).

Meanwhile, PT Kereta cepat Indonesia China (KCIC) GM Corporate Secretary Eva Chairunisa said that her company has proposed KCJB’s ticket prices to range from Rp250,000 to Rp350,000 in three classes, namely economy premium, business, and first class. However, Eva said that her company has only recently proposed the ticket prices to the government, so it is still in the calculation process. So, the exact tariff of the high-speed railway has yet to be determined.
