Jakarta, 14 June 2024 – PwC Indonesia was appointed as one of the knowledge partners for the Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) Asia Pacific Forum 2024, held by the Ministry of Transport of the Republic of Indonesia. The forum served as a significant platform for smart mobility developers and the development of the digital transportation ecosystem. PwC Indonesia supports these development initiatives and the use of intelligent transport systems.
Julian Smith, PwC Indonesia Investment Director, said, “PwC, as one of the knowledge partners of this event, is excited to contribute to the discussions with key stakeholders, experts, policymakers, industry leaders, and technology developers in a collaborative effort to exchange ideas, showcase innovations, and discuss the latest advancements in intelligent transportation systems (ITS) and smart mobility. Through our participation, we hope to foster the development of transportation and to accelerate the transition towards sustainable e-mobility.”
Julian Smith moderated the session on ‘Riding Across Borders: Industry's Perspectives on E-mobility Solutions and Infrastructure’ discussing the latest trends and innovations in e-mobility solutions, identifying regulatory and policy frameworks for widespread adoption, addressing challenges in building robust e-mobility infrastructure, and fostering collaboration between industry players and government agencies. Also joining the discussion were Abdul Rahman Elly (CEO of Voltron), Samsi Gunarta (Head of Bali Province Transportation Agency) and Roman Nedielka, PwC Indonesia Advisor, who has as the first person circumnavigated the world on an electric 2-wheeler, showcasing the reliability of Electric Vehicles (EVs) as a sustainable form of transportation.
Roman Nedielka, PwC Indonesia Advisor, added, “Approach to the acceleration of the e-mobility adoption needs to tailor to a region and country specific characteristics such as the compositions of the transportation fleet, use cases mix and end user behaviours and preferences. Countries are still experimenting with diverse mixes of incentives and policies driven by the diversity of e-mobility standards globally, implying an emergence of consolidation and standardisation efforts across vehicles and their charging. And while there is no universal best practice, during my ride circumnavigating the world on electric motorcycles, China clearly stood up as a success story in the scale and normalisation of electric 2-wheelers adoption. This can serve as relevant reference for South East Asia where 2 wheelers are the main form of transportation for the majority of the population.”
