Canada’s aerospace and defence (A&D) industry has tripled in terms of global market share in the last 20 years, making Canada the fifth largest aerospace producer in the world. The long-term outlook for A&D in Canada looks very favourable despite the current downturn. Unlike other countries, 77% of our products are manufactured for civil aircraft and 82% of total industry output is exported worldwide – more than any other country.
Yet, the Canadian industry is feeling the effects of the economic downturn as production cutbacks by the prime manufacturers are having an effect across the supply chain. However, the market will recover as global demand for aircraft returns.
