Jakarta, ID – The Nusantara Capital City Authority (OIKN) stated that the educational institution sector was planning to carry out the sixth phase of groundbreaking ceremonies in Nusantara Capital City (IKN).
OIKN Head Bambang Susantono mentioned that educational institutions from Al Azhar to a university from Malaysia were ready to conduct groundbreaking ceremonies in IKN.
“The next groundbreaking ceremonies will have an educational theme. So, there are several educational institutions. For example, there are Al Azhar, Bina Bangsa, and a university from Malaysia that will carry out groundbreaking ceremonies,” Bambang said in his press statement at the Presidential Palace in Jakarta as quoted by Antara on Thursday (25/4/2024).
Bambang revealed that educational institutions from Indonesia and overseas were ready to participate in the sixth phase of groundbreaking ceremonies in IKN.
There is also Stanford University from the United States of America (USA) that has commenced the construction of a research centre in IKN in cooperation with Bakrie Foundation.
“As you may have heard, Stanford will cooperate with Bakrie Foundation to construct a research centre in IKN,” he stated.
The OIKN noted that President Jokowi has presided five phases of groundbreaking ceremonies worth Rp49.6 trillion from 32 institutions.
Attachment II of Law No. 3/2022 on State Capital City states that the basic principle of education in IKN will align with the 21st-century educational concept. This is consistent with IKN's educational vision, which aims to establish the finest educational ecosystem to fulfil future talent needs of the economic cluster and to serve as a provider of higher education to enhance quality of life.
The planning, concept, and strategy for education in IKN are based on several considerations, such as intervention at the vocational level that is crucial to fulfil talent demand from emerging economic clusters. Projections indicate that around 60% of jobs in 2045 will fall within the vocational realm.
It is also important to increase the availability of tertiary education in the science, technology, engineering, and mathematics as well as management sectors to support demand for growth and innovations from future economic clusters.
High quality K-12 education is the main criteria to attract domestic and foreign citizens to relocate. It is also a prerequisite for IKN.
Property starting to be marketed
OIKN Head Bambang Susantono added that several property developers have started to market their houses and apartments. These developers are companies that have confirmed that they will conduct groundbreaking ceremonies in IKN.
“We will conduct a marketing roadshow with property developers that have confirmed to carry out groundbreaking ceremonies in IKN,” Bambang stated.
Bambang explained that the OIKN and property developers would conduct an expedition from Surabaya, East Java.
According to the OIKN’s notes, multiple companies have pledged to build housing in IKN. They include the consortium of Nusantara and Pukowon who will develop apartments and landed houses as well as BSH Karya Mandiri, Pakubuwono, and Balikpapan Super Block who will focus on apartment construction.
In their statement, the OIKN stated they would also commence the development of facilities in the Central Government Core Area (KIPP) and western IKN.
“We will develop several complete ecosystems. So, not only [facilities in] the central government area, but also other facilities, such as educational facilities, health facilities, lifestyle facilities,” he explained.
