Investor Daily - MRT Jakarta tawarkan 6 proyek TOD ke Jepang

26 April 2024

Jakarta, ID – Transportation Minister Budi Karya Sumadi attended Transit Oriented Development (TOD) Investment Forum 2024 at the Indonesian Embassy in Tokyo on Thursday (25/4). At the forum that was also attended by Parliamentary Vice Minister for MLIT Ishibashi, the Transportation Minister discussed the investment potential of TOD projects around Jakarta MRT stations.

The Transportation Minister stated that the Indonesian government was fully supportive and prepared to facilitate investment in TOD along MRT tracks. This is seen as a viable solution to alleviate traffic congestion, reduce pollution, and meet the growing demand for sustainable transportation in Jakarta. Since its inception in 2019, Jakarta MRT has laid a robust groundwork for TOD projects by offering an efficient and dependable transportation network. This sets the stage for numerous collaborative opportunities with the private sector, including real estate, retail, hotels, and other industries.

“TOD holds significant commercial value and serves as a key solution to mitigate traffic congestion and pollution. However, the government cannot achieve this alone. As a representative of the Indonesian government, I am fully committed to supporting this initiative. We will provide whatever assistance we can to ensure its successful implementation,” Budi Karya said in his press statement as quoted on Thursday (25/4/2024).

According to him, TOD around Jakarta MRT stations will present investment opportunities and innovative solutions to establish a cohesive environment encompassing residential, commercial, and recreational areas. By strategically integrating the transportation network, TOD will not only increase connectivity and accessibility, but also the welfare of Jakarta’s citizens and stimulate economic growth.

“Amid Jakarta’s development that is no longer a capital, there are many opportunities that can be developed as Jakarta will be a city for trade. This is a golden opportunity for development, especially along MRT’s North-South and East-West routes, there are many strategic and commercial locations that can be utilised when MRT is completed,” the Transportation Minister said.

PT MRT Jakarta (Peseroda) is currently preparing six investment projects, namely Mixed Use Blok M, Pedestrian Deck Sudirman Hub Dukuh Atas, Sudirman Station Revitalisation, Extended Concourse Bundaran HI, Extended Concourse Fatmawati, and West Setiabudi Reservoir Revitalisation.

At the TOD forum attended by 40 companies from Japan and 20 companies from Indonesia, the Transportation Minister hopes that investors and stakeholders will participate in the development of Jakarta to be a better connected city so that it can be an example for other cities in Indonesia and overseas.

“The Japanese government is enthusiastic about investing. Japan’s contribution to MRT shows its consistent commitment. This consistency is proof of its interest in collaborating. What have been designed will be realised,” the Transportation Minister mentioned.

Meeting MILT and JICA

After attending Transit Oriented Development (TOD) Investment Forum 2024, the Transportation Minister continued his work visit agenda by meeting with Assistant Vice Minister for International Aviation MLIT Japan Yamakoshi Toshihiro and representatives from Japanese companies in the aviation sector.
