19 February 2024

Jakarta, ID – PT Waskita Beton Precast Tbk (WSBP) has secured the contract for Phase 1B of Jakarta LRT that encompasses the Velodrome – Manggarai route worth Rp182.14 billion. In the national strategic project, the company will supply girders and ready-mix concrete for the foundation of Jakarta LRT.

“We have secured the contract worth Rp182.14 billion from the Waskita-Nindya-LRS JO (Joint Operation) as the contractor of the project,” Waskita Beton Vice President of Corporate Secretary Fandy Dewanto said in his official statement on Friday (16/2/2024).

Fandy stated that the company would utilise the Karawang, Subang, and Bojonegara plants to supply girders for the Jakarta LRT project. WSBP is set to supply two different types of ready-mix concrete, namely the fc’ 35 Mpa Slump +/-3 and the fc’ 35 Slump 12 +/-2. The total volume is expected to reach 65,000 m3, and the production and delivery will be handled by the Velodrome LRT batching plant that is located 5 km from the project site.

The company has been preparing the production process of both precast and ready-mix concrete. Next, the company will distribute the products to the project site in stages. “We are targeting WSBP to fully supply the products in 2025,” he said.

To pursue the 2025 target, Fandy revealed that WSBP would prioritise quality products and timely delivery. Both aspects are crucial to maintain a good relationship between the company and the project owner.

On the other hand, WSBP is also committed to implementing good corporate governance (GCG) and effective risk management practices in its operations.

The construction of Phase 1B of Jakarta LRT that encompasses the Velodrome-Manggarai route is a follow up to Phase 1A of Jakarta LRT that encompasses the Kelapa Gading-Velodrome route that has been operating since 2019.

Phase 1B of the LRT will span 6.4 km with 5 stations, namely Pemuda Rawamangun Station, Pramuka BPKP Station, Pasar Pramuka Station, Matraman Station, and Manggarai Station.

Fandy attributes WSBP's success in securing the Jakarta LRT contract to the company's achievements in providing spun piles, PCI-I girders, parapets, CCSPs, and ready-mix concrete for Palembang LRT in South Sumatra. This contribution spanned from 2015 to 2019, marking the inaugural LRT project in Indonesia that played a crucial role in supporting Asian Games 2018.

“We anticipate that the realisation of Phase 1B of the LRT will enhance public interest in utilising integrated modern public transportation, establishing it as the primary choice for daily commuting and activities,” Fandy stated.
