Investor Daily - Jokowi resmikan tiga jembatan di Banyumas senilai Rp251 miliar
Jakarta, ID – President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) inaugurated three bridges in Banyumas Regency, Central Java, worth Rp251 billion. The three inaugurated bridges were Tajum Margasana Bridge worth Rp72 billion, Tajum Karangbawang Banyumas worth Rp89 billion, and Jurug B Solo-Karang Anyar Bridge worth Rp90 billion.
“Bismillahirrahmanirrahim (In the name of Allah, The Most Gracious, and The Most Merciful), this afternoon, I am inaugurating Tajum Margasana Banyumas Bridge, Karangbawang Banyumas Bridge, and Jurug B Solo-Karanganyar Bridge,” Jokowi said during the inauguration at Tajum Margasana Bridge in Jakarta on Wednesday (31/1/2024), based on the official website of the Cabinet Secretariat.
The three bridges are part of the 37 Callender Hamilton (CH) bridges on Java Island. According to Jokowi, the bridges need to be replaced due to their age.
“On Java Island, there are 37 Callender Hamilton bridges that must be replaced as their age have surpassed 40 years,” he added.
Jokowi hopes that the three bridges will facilitate the mobility of goods and people.
“They will improve and revitalise the bridges that need to be upgraded as logistics load on these bridges is increasingly heavy. We hope that the new bridges will guarantee the safety and speed of the mobility of goods and people,” he stated.
Based on the data from the Public Works and Housing (PUPR) Ministry, out of the 37 CH bridges on Java Island, there are three bridges located in Banten Province, 16 bridges in West Java Province, nine bridges in Java Province, and another nine bridges in East Java Province. In total, these projects cost Rp2.2 trillion with a construction period from December 2021 to December 2023. The service period will last for 10 years until 2033.
CH bridges are modular and prefabricated for portability, so they can be constructed quickly as their components have been previously designed. CH bridges have existed in Indonesia since the 1970s. However, having surpassed their intended service life of 50 years, they have grown fragile under the strain of logistics and heavy transport. Consequently, the need for replacement has arisen.
