Investor Daily - RI tawarkan proyek LRT Bali ke Korea Selatan

10 January 2024,

Jakarta, ID – Transportation Minister Budi Karya Sumadi is planning to conduct work visits to South Korea and China from 9 to 13 January 2024 to discuss several cooperation opportunities in the railway and aviation sectors.

During these visits, the Transportation Minister will meet several parties in both countries to discuss the cooperation opportunities in both sectors.

“Some topics that we will discuss are the plan to construct an LRT (Light Rail Transit) in Bali, the Autonomous Rail Transit (ART) in Nusantara Capital City (IKN), the sophisticated railway communication and signalling network, and the exploration of cooperation opportunities regarding commercial aircrafts,” Budi Karya said in his statement in Jakarta on Tuesday (9/1/2024).

In South Korea, Budi Karya will meet South Korea Infrastructure and Transportation Deputy Minister Sangwoo Park and several other parties, including the managements of Korea National Railway (KNR) and Eximbank to discuss the continuity of the cooperation for the construction of the first stage of the LRT in Bali from Ngurah Rai Airport to Central Park.

“Bali LRT will be the first rail-based mass transportation in Bali that is expected to be the solution to traffic jams. We hope that the feasibility study that commenced in January 2023 can be completed in the middle of 2024,” the Transportation Minister said as quoted by Antara.

Meanwhile, in China, Budi Karya is planning to meet China Transportation Minister Li Xiaopeng and several other parties, such as the management of China Railway Rolling Stock Corporation (CRRC) to discuss the continuity of the cooperation for the construction of the ART in IKN.

The Transportation Minister will also meet with Huawei’s management to explore a cooperation opportunity for a smart and sophisticated railway system. Huawei is the company that worked on the construction of the communication network for Whoosh High-speed Railway.

Besides cooperation in the railway sector, the Transportation Minister will also meet with the management of Commercial Aircraft Corp of China (COMAC) to explore an investment cooperation opportunity in the aviation sector. Currently, COMAC is the main aircraft supplier for the domestic airline Transnusa.
