Bisnis, Jakarta – Construction state-owned enterprise (SOE) issuer PT Wijaya Karya (Persero) Tbk (WIKA) secured new contracts worth Rp29.1 trillion in 2023. The company aims to optimise projects in Nusantara Capital City (IKN).
WIKA President Director Agung Budi Waskito said that the new contract realisation was a source of joy as most of the contracts were obtained when the company was in a complete standstill, so they had to implement a restructuring process in the second quarter of 2023.
“As much as Rp23 trillion or 80% of the new contracts were obtained between April and December 2023, when the company was restructuring,” Agung said in an official statement on Monday (22/1).
According to him, WIKA has consistently demonstrated its ability to sustain business operations, with sales reaching Rp15.1 trillion by the third quarter of 2023.
The figure corresponds to 29.2% of the production capacity tied to the acquired contracts, marking an increase from Rp12.8 trillion in the third quarter of 2022, which was equivalent to 25.7% of the production capacity.
Agung mentioned that the achievement was made possible through the support of stakeholders, including banks. Their support, particularly through the provision of guarantees – a prerequisite for participating in tenders – contributed to ensuring the business continuity of WIKA.
Among its new contracts in 2023, WIKA secured a contract to construct the pipeline network for Wastewater Treatment Plants (WWTPs) 1 and 3 in the Central Government Core Area (KIPP) in IKN. WWTPs 1 and 3 located in the KIPP within IKN were secured by WIKA-JK Joint Operation in November 2023 with WIKA’s portion reaching Rp239.5 billion or 55% of the joint operation.
The construction of WWTPs 1 and 3 in the KIPP within IKN aims to establish a domestic wastewater pipeline network service. These facilities are designed to process wastewater generated by urban activities in KIPP.
The network caters to various locations, including the Presidential Palace, the Judicative Plaza, coordinating ministry buildings, civil servant flats, landed housing of ministers, the Vice President Palace, the IKN Authority building, and the State Mosque.
“WIKA is optimising its existing resources and implementing various breakthroughs to ensure the timely completion of projects in IKN while maintaining the expected quality,” Agung stated.
