The airport’s manager also operates a number of advanced technologies in Terminal 3.

The inaugural international flight at Terminal 3 will take place on 1 May at 06:10 am, i.e. GA 824 flight serving the Jakarta - Singapore route. The flight will also mark the transfer of all Garuda Indonesia international flights from Terminal 2 to Terminal 3. The inaugural international flight at Terminal 3 will be GA 823 from Singapore.

"Preparation has reached 99 percent completion, and it is just a matter of cleaning and tidying up a few remaining matters. So, starting on 1 May 2017 at 00:01, Terminal 3 will already be able to serve the international flights of Garuda Indonesia Airline," said Operations and Engineering Director of PT Angkasa Pura II (Persero), Djoko Murjatmodjo, in a press conference on Tuesday (25 April), in Jakarta.

Garuda Indonesia has administered its domestic flights from Terminal 3 since August 2016. Terminal 3 has five entry gates.

Operations Director of Airnav Indonesia, Wisnu Darjono, added that the full operation of Terminal 3 of Soekarno-Hatta Airport is expected to reduce the density of plane arrivals and departures, which reach 1,170 movements each day, with 380 movements being from Garuda Indonesia. "We also have advanced the second level facility of advance surface movement guidance and control system (ASMGCS), which is capable of guiding and controlling every aircraft and vehicle in the airport area with greater precision. The safety factor will also be better," said Wisnu.

Head of Airport Services and Operations of Region I of Airport Authority, Asri Sentosa, said that his office has completed verification of all the personnel assigned in Terminal 3 of Soekarno-Hatta Airport. Such verification involves, among others, the officers’ data, driving licenses, identities for entering the airport zone, and other administrative requirements. Verification on both the land side and air side has been done and the results are satisfactory. "The security system also did not escape from the verification, including exit doors in the event of an emergency condition. This terminal is ready to operate well," said Asri.

Announcement
Services Director of Garuda Indonesia, Nicodemus P Lampe, said that announcement has been made to Garuda Indonesia’s international flight passengers who are scheduled to fly in May 2017 to straight away go to Terminal 3 of Soekarno-Hatta Airport. The announcement has been delivered via emails and short message notifications.

"Everything is 99 percent ready. Physically, the condition of Terminal 3 is much better than Terminal 2. Moreover, domestic and international flights in Terminal 3 are already connected," said Nicodemus.

Terminal 3 of Soekarno-Hatta Airport is equipped with a number of advanced facilities, such as two-units of body scanner, surveillance cameras (CCTV) that can recognize faces, as well as equipment for monitoring passenger baggage in Terminal 3. The surveillance cameras operated in Terminal 3 will highlight the faces of people whose profiles have been uploaded into the system and automatically this will alert the officers in charge.

Meanwhile, cameras also monitor goods items left by their owners inside the terminal. If a goods item is abandoned for more than three minutes or it is left without anyone besides it, the system will automatically notify the officers and the officers will secure the goods for further inspection.
