New senior appointments strengthen PwC Isle of Man team

26 October, 2023

Professional services firm, PwC Isle of Man, has appointed Janet Donnelly as Chief People Officer and Colin Manley as Actuarial Director in two new senior roles as it further invests in its team.

As Chief People Officer (CPO), Janet will lead the firm’s people strategy and support its continuous transformation and people development journeys. Working across many sectors throughout her career, Janet has a depth of knowledge in human resources (HR) strategy, employee value proposition and employee engagement, having gained experience across different territorial cultures, and varying legal and regulatory jurisdictions. She brings specialist skills in culture, organisational effectiveness, future state core capability development, and experience gained from holding executive roles to build and develop the new position of CPO.

With extensive experience at executive and board level, Janet will provide a range of strategic client services across HR Consultancy and Transformation, Learning and development, Executive coaching, and Employee engagement. Janet can help local businesses prepare for workforce challenges, develop employee potential and deliver sustained outcomes in the market.

Colin has vast experience in the financial services and insurance sectors, with more than 20 years of experience in senior positions within life and non-life insurance companies and regulatory bodies including the Isle of Man Financial Services Authority where he oversaw the insurance, pensions, and trust and company service provider sectors. His arrival will further strengthen and broaden the service offerings of the firm's actuarial and advisory practices. With a locally based actuarial team of 16 people, Colin's appointment reflects the success and development of the firm’s island based services offering that continues to grow in supporting both island based and international clients.

Working alongside the firm’s actuarial and advisory teams, Colin will assist in the development of actuarial and regulatory service offerings in the local and international marketplace and provide the firm’s clients with quality advice and consulting services on a wide variety of actuarial and regulatory concerns ranging from reserving and capital optimisation to board training and risk management.

Nicholas Halsall, Territory Senior Partner at PwC Isle of Man, commented: ‘In 2021, PwC launched The New Equation, a refreshed global strategy responding to fundamental changes in the world and identifying two critical client needs to build trust and deliver sustained outcomes. On a local level, our firm announced a 5-year £1.5 million investment to develop business areas including expanding actuarial services, enhancing cyber and ESG capabilities, digitisation, upskilling our people, and transitioning to net zero with 2030 goals.

As the business climate continues to rapidly evolve, many organisations will need to prioritise transformational change, whether full-scale or refining particular operations, in order to solve the challenges of today and tomorrow. Transformation includes building a strong people foundation with the right people in the right places to provide long-term value to clients. Janet and Colin’s appointments are a significant enhancement to PwC Isle of Man’s leadership team of seven partners and eleven directors, and I am delighted to welcome them at what is a truly transformative time for our business. They will play a crucial role in growing PwC Isle of Man’s capabilities as a multidisciplinary firm of over 120 people.’

Alongside the senior appointments, the Isle of Man firm promoted twenty-three people from 1 July 2023 across manager, senior associate and associate grades and in all lines of service, further investing in its people and their professional development.

These announcements come during the twenty-fifth anniversary year of the merger between Price Waterhouse and Coopers & Lybrand to become ‘PricewaterhouseCoopers’ in 1998. Over the last twenty-five years, PwC Isle of Man has expanded its diverse team with representation from fifteen countries. The professional services firm operates in the four key areas of assurance, advisory, actuarial, and tax to deliver services to a local and international client base with in-house expertise and support from specialists in the PwC global network.
