Profile
Mr. Matsunaga joined PwC Tax Japan in 2000 and has worked as a core member of the Transaction/M&A Practice and also as a member of Financial Services industry practice. He has advised both private and public multinational corporations and private equity firms with regard to their investments in Japanese and foreign target corporations. He has assisted his clients post-acquisition with various tax issues as a result of restructuring their global operations from an international point of view. He brings more than 10 years of PwC experience managing all aspects of tax due diligence, modeling, structuring and other tax consulting services.
He was assigned to PwC US New York office as a Japanese country desk leader in the International Tax Services Practice from 2011 to 2012. In that role, he provided tax consulting and structuring services for US inbound transactions for various Japanese corporations, and also advised on US outbound transactions into Japan for various US multinational corporations.

- led many deals for Japanese and non-Japanese parented financial institutions from a Japanese tax perspective and from a non-Japanese tax perspective through mobilizing a team from a non-Japanese PwC firm and provided tax diligence, structuring advice and post -acquisition integration advice for their acquisition deals in Asia, Europe and the U.S.
- led many deals for private equity funds from a Japanese tax perspective and from a non-Japanese tax perspective through mobilizing a team from a non-Japanese PwC firm and provided tax diligence, structuring advice and post-acquisition integration advice for their acquisition deals both in Japan and offshore.
- leveraged deep knowledge from this extensive experience and provided various tax consulting services to various financial institutions.
