Seigo Sugiyama joined PwC Tax Japan in 2004, where he has since provided various tax services from tax compliance to tax structuring and tax due diligence. He advises various Japanese and non-Japanese PE funds with their inbound investments in Japan, as well as Japan-based multinational companies, especially financial institutions that operate globally.
He has been involved in various tax due diligence and structuring projects for the acquisition of companies engaged in financial services, manufacturing, restaurant chain operation, sales and distribution, advertising etc. in Japan.
Seigo was seconded to the Financial Services Agency of the Japanese Government from July 2012 to June 2015, where he was involved in reforms of Japanese tax laws related to international taxation, investment funds and financial products. He was also seconded to the New York office of PwC US from July 2017 to July 2019, where he provided various cross-border tax advice to multinational clients.
