Howard is a partner in the Tax Reporting and Strategy group of PwC Tax Japan. Before joining PwC Tax Japan, Howard worked in the tax group of a major international law firm in Tokyo and another Big Four accounting firm; together he has over 20 years of experience in advising Japanese and foreign companies on international tax matters.
With PwC Tax Japan, Howard advises clients on a broad range of tax issues, including in connection with restructurings, intangible migration, mergers and acquisitions, treaty interpretation, tax optimisation, controlled foreign corporation (CFC) rules and indirect tax (VAT). He also routinely advises companies in connection with electronic storage of tax documents and Web 3-related tax issues (NFTs, blockchain and the metaverse).
Howard holds a Bachelors and a Masters degree from Cornell University, a JD from Rutgers University, and an LL.M. (Tax) from the Georgetown University Law Center.
Howard speaks English and Japanese.
