Jakarta (Antara) – The Ministry of Communications and Digital Affairs has reaffirmed its commitment to supporting the digital transformation of the postal, courier, and logistics industries through the acceleration of more adaptive regulations in the digital era.
Minister of Communications and Digital Affairs, Meutya Hafid, in a press release on Friday, stated that these sectors play a strategic role in supporting digital economic growth and national resilience.
"We are committed to ensuring regulations that support the sustainability of these industries," said Minister Meutya during an audience with the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KADIN) regarding the postal, courier, and logistics industries in Jakarta on Thursday (13/3).
As a concrete step, the Ministry of Communications and Digital Affairs is accelerating the issuance of ministerial regulations aimed at providing legal certainty and creating balance within the postal and courier industries’ ecosystems amidst the challenges of global competition and digitalisation.
Responding to various challenges in these sectors, Meutya emphasised that the Ministry of Communications and Digital Affairs will continue to strive to ensure that the regulations formulated truly benefit the industry and society.
"We understand the challenges faced by these sectors. Therefore, the regulations we create must ensure that the postal and logistics industries remain competitive, in line with national interests, and adaptive to digital transformation," she said.
In the audience, the Special Staff of the Ministry of Communications and Digital Affairs for Strategic Communication, Rudi Sutanto, also highlighted the crucial role of these sectors during the COVID-19 pandemic, where courier and logistics services were at the forefront when people could not engage in activities outside their homes.
However, according to him, after the situation improved, attention to these sectors began to wane. Therefore, he said the new regulations must provide certainty and favour national interests.
The Chairperson of the Indonesian Express Delivery Services Association (Asperindo), Muhammad Feriadi Soeprapto, also conveyed the challenges faced by more than 390 member companies of the association.
He highlighted the increasingly fierce competition with digital platforms and regulations that are not yet fully harmonised between ministries.
"We hope for more integrated regulations so that the postal and logistics industries can grow healthily and compete with global platforms," he said.
Asperindo also announced plans for a national conference in May 2025. Feriadi hopes this conference will receive government support and become a strategic discussion forum for industry players to convey their aspirations directly to President Prabowo Subianto.
Through the acceleration of regulations and synergy between the government, industry players, and associations, the Ministry of Communications and Digital Affairs is optimistic that this step will create a healthier, more innovative, and competitive business ecosystem.
Thus, the postal, courier, and logistics industries can continue to develop, provide the best services to the public, and drive more inclusive and sustainable economic growth.
