17 March 2025
Jakarta, ID – PT ASDP Indonesia Ferry (Persero) together with the Presidential Staff Office (KSP) held a strategic meeting in Batam to discuss the strengthening of National Strategic Projects (PSNs), particularly related to the integration of the Merak-Bakauheni area, the development of Bakauheni Harbour City (BHC), and the expansion of the international route Batam-Johor Bahru.
As a company that plays a strategic role in interregional connectivity in Indonesia, ASDP continues to transform its services to improve efficiency and operational capacity.
ASDP President Director Heru Widodo emphasised that the development of the Bakauheni Harbour City area is a crucial step in supporting regional tourism and economic growth.
"We are developing BHC as a waterfront destination with various marine tourism facilities, culinary centres, and capsule hotels. This step not only increases tourism appeal but also creates a multiplier effect for the local economy," said Heru in a press release quoted in Jakarta, Sunday (16/3/2025).
ASDP has coordinated with the Ministry of Transportation, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Finance, and BP Batam to expedite the licensing of this route. In addition, ASDP is exploring cooperation opportunities with Abu Dhabi Port to strengthen port management and investment in international crossing infrastructure.
As a concrete step, ASDP will accelerate the realisation of quick win programmes, including strengthening digital-based services, increasing the capacity of main routes, and accelerating the development of Bakauheni Harbour City.
Through this meeting, ASDP and KSP reaffirmed their joint commitment to strengthening PSN in the maritime transport sector. With support from various parties, the integration project of Merak-Bakauheni and the expansion of international routes are expected to be realised soon, bringing significant benefits to national connectivity and economic growth in strategic areas.
