Jakarta – Four Greater Jakarta transportation integration projects are proposed and inaugurated on Wednesday (29/9) by Transportation Minister Budi Karya Sumadi, SOE (State-owned Enterprise) Minister Erick Thohir, and Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan. The projects include Jaklingko card and application, Dukuh Atas multipurpose pedestrian bridge (JPM) and Sudirman Station revitalisation, inauguration of station area organisation stage 2, as well as Greater Jakarta transportation integration document signing.

The Jakarta Governor said that this activity was encouraged by the spirit of collaboration among the Transportation Ministry, the SOE Ministry, and Jakarta Provincial Government. The purpose of this activity is to implement transportation integration in Jakarta and its surroundings.

Anies said that this event was monumental as it was not only a steppingstone for better public transportation services, but it also proved that, if a collaboration was established seriously, its benefits could be enjoyed by citizens.

“The collaboration that is currently implemented will create integration among public transportations, realise integrated routes, integrated management, as well as integrated ticketing system. Thank you for the hard work of various parties, we will carry out this activity for the welfare of the public,” Anies explained.

Budi Karya Sumadi also appreciates the transportation integration projects proposed this time. According to him, without collaboration, integration will not be realised excellently.

“We are also consistently carrying out what is ordered by the President to conduct all activities excellently and to make sure the benefits can be enjoyed by many people,” he explained.

The Transportation Minister said the concept of transportation was intermodal connectivity, such as among trains, busses, and other public transportations, which could be realised with transit-oriented development (TOD).

“This has been implemented simultaneously by us, and we will inaugurate it today,” the Transportation Minister.

A necessity

During the same occasion, SOE Minister, Erick Thohir, also said that citizens must also participate in the transportation integration activity.

“Obviously regional governments and the central government must collaborate. Hopefully, this can be a public service that is continuously maintained by citizens,” he said.

Meanwhile, PT Moda Integrasi Transportasi Jabodetabek (MITJ) President Director, Tuhiyat, explained that the first activity that was proposed was the integrated ticketing system and tariff. This system is operated by PT Jaklingko Indonesia. PT Jaklingko will integrate ticketing and tariffs in Greater Jakarta in three phases.

“PT Jaklingko has produced the Jaklingko card and application that have been tested in August 2021 on Commuter Line, MRT, Transjakarta, and Jakarta LRT,” Tuhiyat explained.

He said that the Jaklingko card and application was a sign that phase 1 of the three phases of the ticket and payment integration was completed.

Then, the second project is the construction of Dukuh Atas JPM and Sudirman Station revitalisation. Tuhiyat said that PT MITJ was assigned to construct the project. This project is a collaboration among the central government through the Transportation Ministry and the SOE Ministry as well as Jakarta Provincial Government, SOEs, regional SOEs, as well as private companies. Meanwhile, the funding is not provided by the state budget (APBN) nor the regional budget (APBD), but through creative funding from strategic cooperation.

“The JPM construction is set to be finished at the same time with Jabodebek LRT operation in June 2022,” Tuhiyat stated.

The third project inaugurated is station organisation stage 2. The second stage of the organisation includes Tebet, Palmerah, Gondangdia, Manggarai, and Jakarta Kota Stations. However, only two stations have been inaugurated, namely Tebet and Palmerah Stations.

“Meanwhile, the three other stations are still in physical construction where the progress of Manggarai Station has reached 95% and Gondangdia has reached 69%. Meanwhile, Jakarta Kota Station is set to be finished next year,” Tuhiyat revealed.

The last project is the Greater Jakarta transportation integration document signing. According to him, a thorough study has been conducted to create a concept for Greater Jakarta integration. The study result shows that, to optimise integration in Greater Jakarta, six integration dimensions are required, namely physical, management, services, ticketing, payment, and brand integration.

“Today, we report that the document between PT MRT Jakarta and KAI will be signed,” he stated.
