Bisnis Indonesia, 26 April 2017

TANGERANG - Full service airline Garuda Indonesia is ready to transfer all its international flight services from Terminal 2E to Terminal 3 of Soekarno-Hatta Airport, Cengkareng, from 1 May 2017.

Director of Service of PT Garuda Indonesia Tbk. (GIAA), Nicodemus P. Lampe, said that various preparatory measures have been taken, involving ground handling, airplane crews, airport officers, and so on.

"Since last week, we have prepared everything, both internal and external things. I see that our preparation progress to serve international flights in Terminal 3 is now about 99 percent," he said, Tuesday (25 April).

Nicodemus explained that a flight on the Jakarta - Singapore route became the first Garuda international flight in Terminal 3 (T3). According to him, the plane with the flight number GA 824 leaving for Singapore will depart at 06:10 Western Indonesia Time (WIB).

In total, he added, the frequency of Garuda flights on 1 May 2017 in Terminal 3 will reach 60 flights. Meanwhile, the Garuda’s international routes from Terminal 3 have a total of 17 destinations.

"We have also informed the customers of Garuda, including other airlines who are members of the Sky Team alliance. Later, we will remind them again of this service transfer," he said.

With the transfer of flight services, Garuda has now officially serves all its flights, both domestic and international, in Terminal 3. Previously, Garuda began to serve domestic flights in Terminal 3 in August 2016.

Meanwhile, Operations and Engineering Director of PT Angkasa Pura (AP) II, Djoko Murjatmodjo, said that the international departure area of Terminal 3 can be reached by aircraft passengers through Gate 1 and Gate 2.

"Furthermore, there are six doors opened for boarding processes, namely Gate 5, Gate 6, Gate 7, Gate 8, Gate 9 and Gate 10. We believe these are adequate, considering that only Garuda Indonesia has operated international flights from Terminal 3," he said.

Digital Facilities

In line with that, Djoko claimed that Terminal 3 International is already equipped with a number of digital facilities to make things easier for passengers or visitors at the airport, such as flight schedule information, taxi reservation, parking locations and more.

Terminal 3 will also be equipped with 64 immigration counters and 30 autogate immigration doors to support operational activities, including 12 X-ray units and 2 body scanner units to safeguard flight safety and security.

"Meanwhile, on the air side, Terminal 3 International also provides 17 parking stands for airline fleets, which can also accommodate as many as three wide-bodied aircraft of the Airbus A380 type," he said.

Overall, the capacity of Terminal 3 will be able to accommodate 25 million passengers per year. Of the total capacity of the terminal, Terminal 3 International will accommodate as many as 12.5 million passengers.

At the same place, Operations Director of the Indonesian Air Transport Navigation Services Agency (LPPNPI)/ AirNav Indonesia, Wisnu Darjono, said that his institution is ready to support the international flight navigation operations at Terminal 3.

"From the operational side, JATSC, which serves the flight navigation at Soekarno-Hatta Airport, is actually ready, given that the parking stands for international flights are already in use, albeit in a limited manner," he said.

In terms of facilities, he said further, AirNav has implemented level 2 of Advanced Service Movement Guidance & Control System (A-SMGCS), compared to the previous level 1 of A-SMGCS, as of 10 April 2017.

According to him, with the new movement monitoring system, the air traffic controller (ATC) officers can provide more precise directions and controls for each aircraft, and vehicles on the air side of the airport.

"The use of this technology will reduce visual observations from the ATC officers and pilots, inclusive routing automation, guidance, and control. As a result, the automation function for conflict alerts and information for solution can also work better," he said.

Wisnu added that the guiding service in Terminal 3 will be provided jointly by AP II, through apron movement control (AMC) officers, and the JATSC unit under the auspices of AirNav Indonesia.

The AMC service at Terminal 3 is also in conformity with KP No. 38/2017 regarding Manual of Standard CASR - Part 139, which states that AMS is conducted by the airport operator.

"This regulation has been further elaborated in LOCA [Letter of Operational Coordination Agreement] between AP II and AirNav, whereby AMC is responsible in apron, and ATC is responsible for the manoeuvring area and the movement area," he said.
